Soooo. Love the car. Totally enjoy it. Exactly what I wanted. Not a Tesla! Not a $100k Taycan, E-tron, etc.

So now we start personalizing. Installed my radar detector camera combo. Hardwired direct to battery and tucked the wires. Did it this way so it can provide parked security for up to 8hrs and impact recording while parked capability. Next was to de-badge it - can’t! Has locator holes in hood and hatch, so that ain’t happening, dang it!

Scheduled full Xpel PPF and ceramic on top of that, RO protect my matte finish and allow easy car care. Next, will add a custom Sub - low profile design in factory under floor storage. Will not change the functionality of the back half.

What are you trying to de-badge? First thing I did when I got home was to remove the rear hatch Kia badge and it slid right off. It was only stuck on by black sticky tape. Just use a strong dental floss and slide it thru the base of the badge. Then used glue be gone to remove the residues and some polish. I didnt do the front yet but its the same badge, so I dont see why not.

Looking fwd to pics of yr install and where you routed the 12V. I need to do the same for my camera as well.

So, there's definitely no locator holes? I'll hit mine with the heat gun later and do the same if someone can confirm. This thing will look completely unrecognizable (unless you see the wheel caps) without badges.

Just to set yr mind at ease... I cannot confirm the front though as I have not removed the badge on the hood but its the same badge. Guess you can take one for the team when u do the front

Note, I am going to go ahead and pull the front anyway. I am having it wrapped and will install new badge. Probably will buy two, paint one matte black and one factory matte gray and see which one I like best.

For the radar detector/camera combo - Escort MaxCam 360c, I bought the remote mute hardwire kit. Ran from mirror mount, up along headliner, pulled a pillar trim and seal, pulled end cap of dash down to drivers side fuse panel door. Button was run to below climate/radio control. Then ran a single wire all the way to battery fuse box in front. Connected red lead to positive junction and grounded in car next to dash mount/end cap. This way unit stays on and then auto off for an hour, but if impacted it will come on.

I know. Have a new one arriving next week from Kia. Took my silver one off to fulldip it, mistake! Done rear on car. Front is back on, looks great with with DIY 3m tape. Rather just get a new one, spray it black again and have factory adhesive back on.
