Heated front windscreens are a Ford Motor Company patented idea and can only be used if the manufacturer pays to lease it from Ford.
Really? They've been around for decades, lots of brands offer them. They are pretty simple devices, what could Ford have done so uniquely that others couldn't find a similar solution to?

Yes really. Try looking it up on Google.

What is DTC refered to in the letter? Its surprising that Kia dont fit an electrically heated windscreen, that would be quicker to defrost the screen rather than the cabin heater.
in theory they are unnecessary as we should have near instant heat with PTC heating.

My dealer will receive a new inverter for my car tomorrow. Hopefully I will have a warm christmas drive with the family :)
Great that they know exactly what the problem is. Sounds very promising!

Hope to hear from my dealer soon as well, as my feet get frozen from the -10 outside air blowing on them.

Mine EV6 GT-Line (top spec in Sweden) comes with heat pump and the heating problems exist. Both the app problem and the not giving any heat in the cabin problem.
Hi Fredrik,
I have the same car and same problem as you have. When I contacted my dealer and told them about the problem and that it was a known problem, they said they never heard about it before. Hedin bil is my dealer, do you have the same one? I´m interested to know if they´re just saying that they haven´t heard of the problem before.

IS IT A KIA Cover Up ??? Interesting enough is that we find nothing in the different analysis/review I see for the EV6 as if the problem never existed.
The Problem is REAL ! In my case I found out about within the first week I had the car in early November. My dealer took the car in mid-november, did all kind of tests and analysis with supervision from KIA France technical specialists, then ordered the parts to replace (this took a good 3 weeks) and I got the car back mid December with HEAT in the cabin.
The head mechanic at my dealer told me yesterday (Dec 20th) he had just receive a note or notification from KIA technical about this problem.
I was lucky in all this as the dealer lend back to me my previous car (Nissan Leaf62) while waiting for the repairs to be completed. So I did not suffer much from the cold.
My car built date is Aug. 9, GT-Line, AWD without heat pump.

Just picket up the car after the inverter switch and heat is back! It's -1 degC out and joggled AC on and off a few times and the car kept heating the cabin. This would previously shut the heat off for the rest of the ride. So, the inverter seems to have been the problem on my car! I'm happy.

Congratulations!!!
Is the remote heating working too?

Yes. It was probably the software update that fixed the remote heating. Previously it just deactivated a second after activation. Today it has been running for 15 mins without interruption.

I had software fix yesterday but no hardware fix and remote heating is still not working.
So could well be hardware or both hw/sw required to properly fix remote heating

Remote heating without the hardware fix doesn't work...

I'm scheduled for the inverter change tomorrow at my dealership 👏
I'll see if I can get a warm christmas at last. I'll update here if the remote heating also will work after this.

Hi from Germany,
I got my EV6 (Air, RWD, heat pump) on Dec. 18th. Before delivery I told my KIA dealer about heating issues and asked him to install updates, but he said there were no updates available for my car.
On Dec. 22nd heating didn't work. Called my dealer who said now that three updates were available, one for heating. Next day another staffer told me that Kia would replace one part of air condition later on, but this part was not available yet. Maybe he was talking about the inverter?
Of course, these are first world problems. But after paying more than 50,000 Euros I am not really satisfied.

Update (Dec. 25, 2021):
I think the heating issues appear after trying to preheat the car using Kia Connect app.
Twice I could reactivate heating as follows:
(1) turning the car off and on again
(2) center screen: Home --> Air Condition (Klimaanlage in German) --> activate "Auto" in the bottom left
But I am still not quite sure whether the Auto button or any other process activated heating .
In first week of January I am going to take the car to my Kia garage for software updates.

Update (Dec. 31st, 2021):
No more heating issues since I have stopped using Kia Connect app.

Update (Jan. 08, 2022)
After using defroster the heating remained off. Again and again I turned heating on and off. Five to ten minutes later heating went on.
Yesterday I got 4 software updates a Kia dealership. Unfortunately it's not done yet, the inverter has to be replaced, too.

I got the car back yesterday afternoon and it had warmth all the way back home. It was just 30 minute drive to be honest, but anyways.

I tried the remote app start this morning both with the charging cable connected (tried this first) and also with the charging cable not connected.
Unfortunatly the cars doesnt get warm, somehow it stops the "defroster" function what seems to be just a minute or so from me starting it. Heated steeringwheel and backwindow heating goes on for the full 15 minutes, but the defroster and actually warming the car doesn't work.

I hope the heating in the car while driving at least will continue to work. Going to be driving a few miles the upcoming days so hopefully I will notice if the heater doesn't work. It's a shame they can't get the app to work the way it is suppose to. I'll post here in a few days when having driven the car more.

Merry christmas!
