Car wash....

Yes I know there ia an older previous thread......but the question I have was not answered. Has anyone taken their EV6 to a high pressure car wash that you pull into , put the vehicle in neutral and the wash tread pulls you through?? My concern is the fact that it is an electric vehicle and the high pressure of spraying....any thoughts? Thanks.....

I did (carwash) when I first got it. Mine was filthy from being on an auto transport for a week.
Then the nex day I washed by hand.

I assumed it would be sealed well enough for the environment...high water, etc.

You can watch videos of Tesla's floating through water...figure the carwash is ok.
I personally only would use a touchless car wash. You never know what contaminants are on the brushes that slap against your car. Most times I'll be hand washing at home, or use the touchless at the gas station close to my home. I wouldn't be concerned on the high pressure nozzles at a car wash since they are unlikely to harm it. Those brushes with dirt/sand/rocks stuck on them from someone who got mud and dirt all over their car would worry me much more.

Yup...thanks, I agree, my concern is just basically on the electrical aspects and whether anyone has thoughts on the aspect of driving through the car wash with an EV with the heavy battery load based on the underside of the vehicle.
I washed my EV6 twice so far at a brushless carwash without issues, your tread just reminded me is time to wash it again. If water would be a concern would you drive it in the rain?
I saw this recently, but the TL;DR is (not surprisingly) that you wash an EV like any other ICE vehicle.

I wash my own car with a power washer. I previously used Armor All Ultra Shine Wash & Wax in the foam cannon attachment though the manufacturer does not recommend this. The article above suggests biodegradable washes (and I don't need a wax additive - which is especially true for those with the matte finish) so I recently purchased RainX High Foaming Car Wash, which has pretty good customer reviews for foam cannon application though I haven't tried it yet.

The one sensible precaution that I noted in the EV6 manual was not to direct high pressure spray at the external sensors.
Here's the section on EV6 exterior care.
We've had our EV6 for 3 weeks now. Been weekly through Mikes Car wash with no issues so far.
I'm pretty sure manufacturers of EV's make them OK to go through car washes. They're tested for far worse environments than that :D

Sounds good....!

One would certainly hope so........that said, "first time buyers" like us have been known to discover things before the manufacturers do!! :ROFLMAO:

I know this is a rather silly question, but what approaches to you take for keeping your Q3 clean?

I am motivated to ask because the car I have on order is black, and it will be the first black car we have owned. In the past I have washed my cars (mostly lighter colors) by hand when new and precious until I get too lazy a few years into ownership, and then I go to a drive through car wash. However, I know that many car washes can leave swirl marks on black paint and I'd like to keep this car looking as good as possible for a long while. And hand washing is not a good option in winter.

Think I read somewhere (need to try and find it) that Tesla is better in flooded roads as there is no air intake and sealed areas. I can see the sense of that

So a car wash would be no issue at all

Edit: found a video of a Tesla in deep water
