Confusion about opening locked doors a certain way?

I have the open doors set that when entering the locked car to just open the driver's door. However, and I'm not sure of this, I thought that I also had the open doors programmed such that by touching the driver's door indent (after the handle opened,) the other three doors would open. But, when touching the driver's door indent (handle now opened,) the driver's door closes. Now, if I touch the indent, all doors open. Is this the way it should be, or can I have all doors open when first touching the driver's open handle? Thanks.

You can have all the doors open on approach if that's what you want. Setup → Vehicle → Door → Remote Power Door Open → Unlock All Doors

Tapping the detent is a cycle of the locks. If the handle is open (power handles), then the next press is Lock. Maybe that 2nd touch (door is now locked) is treated as a 2nd press on the FOB? I believe a double click on the FOB will unlock all doors. That is a setting.

The manual doesn't seem cover the steps you've taken. Door locks

Haven't looked recently, but I'm almost certain there's a setting that will open all of the doors with the touch of the driver's door handle indent as @Fifty mentioned.

I turned off "open doors on approach" because it was constantly unlocking and then locking again in a bit when I'd go out to the garage for something. So I set ours to open just the drivers door when I touch the indent. If I touch the indent on the passenger door, all of the doors open.

LOL do you always have your keyfob on you whenever you go out to the garage? ;) Yeah I get it--there are times where you need to go to the garage to get something where you have to walk by your locked EV6 to get to said something; me, in such a case I just simply not have the keyfob on me--meaning, the only time my keyfob is on me and I'm walking to my (locked) EV is when I intend to unlock it.

That’s the way I have had my GTL set from the beginning. It works great for me, always has. Perhaps you’re pushing on the handle more than you think, rather than just touching the indent lightly. Just guessing here. 🤔

So, you are saying that when you approach the locked car (with fob in hand/pocket,) just the driver's door opens (handle out, other three handles still closed,) and then you tap the indent on the driver's handle, the other three doors open??? Of course, this describes just how I would like the doors to work.

SOLUTION

OK, here's the solution. First, I was not crazy in thinking that the remaining three doors could be opened after initially opening the driver's door by a single "tap" of the driver handle indent! It is not a tap, but rather a paused hold that will open the other doors. Specifically: When just the driver's door handle is open, place finger on indent for 1-3 seconds and other doors will now open.

Yes, sometimes, maybe, not always. ;)
Also, I just take the fob out of my pocket and hold it perpendicularly at arm's length from the car. No doors open.
Tough to do when said object has to be carried with two hands.
