EV6 rear turn signals changed for US market !!

I've started watching the YouTube reviews from the US version KIA EV6 rollout. One thing really stood out as a disappointment to me. The rear turn indicators light up on the top light strip and not the diamond patterned chrome piece below them. In all the foreign reviews I've seen the amber turn indicator is on the lower strip and REALLY looks amazing with the diamond pattern - I wish this wasn't changed for the US trimmed cars. If anyone knows or hears about an aftermarket fix for this please share. Also, why was this done? Must be something to do with US automobile standards.

It’s not a US regulation. It’s basically some marketing department thought it looks “cooler” with all red rather than amber indicators. US law allows either amber or red indicators so there’s flexibility there for manufacturers to offer either one. (Notice Audi has taken full advantage and most of their US-spec cars have rear red indicators).

I agree. In the EV6, it looks way cooler with the amber indicators behind the chrome diamond trim.

. The practice of still allowing red rear turn signals, combined with stop and tail lights, is an absurd anachronism in US regulations.

I want to stress that, by contrast, I think mandatory side marker lamps are a great US regulation, and have been since 1968. Other markets should require them too. But as for red rear turn signals…?! When they were invented in the 1950s they were a great advance. But that’s 70 years ago. Time to move on, America and Canada.

it is bizarre that automakers complicate their inventories by persisting with two systems. Amber lights are allowed in N America; just not required. Go figure!
