2024 Kia EV9 GT Line w. 15K miles

While the wife was driving on the highway, she heard a loud "pop" noise from the rear end. Described it as sounding like a tire had popped.

"Stop vehicle and check power supply" message popped up on display with alarms and flashing lights.

Must've gone into limp mode as her max speed was reduced 25 MPH. Drove a very short distance to get to a safe location to pull over, park and call me.

Vehicle was towed to dealership and now we're waiting for our appointment on 9/29.

Kia forums say this was most likely an ICCU issue.

Anyone else experienced this?

Hey @pzin, that loud "pop" from the rear your wife heard sounds pretty scary, especially on the highway. Once she was pulled over safely, did any other warnings appear on the dash, or did you try restarting the car at all? Adding those details might help someone else here recognize if they've had the exact same thing happen.

Keep in mind, this is second-hand. She told me that the vehicle, immediately after the loud "pop" sound, showed a message on the screen that read "Stop vehicle and check power supply" along with some warning chimes. The vehicle seemed to self regulate and slow down as if in a "limp mode" where she could not go above 25 MPH. While not ideal, this allowed her to safely pull off the highway and drive a very short distance to a parking lot so she could call me.

Hope this info helps....

Welcome to the ICCU party, pal!

Kia has just given up on fixing the ICCU and will just dealt with repairs as they come about among stranded Kia EV owners. Corporate par for the course from Kia. The absolute worst car company when it comes to doing the right thing for owners, especially first time adopters. Send them a message that you will no longer recommend any HMG car to anyone. They don't care. They are still subsidizing their EV sales and will be willing to bleed money to try to establish market share. They'll learn eventually, but it won't help us first time adopters in the here and now.
