EVgo Chargers

We make a monthly or bi-monthly trip from Sacramento area to Sunnyvale. A month ago we stayed at a hotel in Sunnyvale where there were 4 new EVgo chargers installed in the Hotel parking lot. They looked completely installed but were not in service yet. Fast forward 1 month and we had to go to Sunnyvale yesterday. I thought I'd make reservations at same hotel so we could conveniently charge at the hotel. Arrive and the chargers still not in service. I ask the hotel desk and they claimed the chargers were waiting for someone to "program them". At last a month sitting there not being able to be used. You would think the programing part would be the easy part

Sounds familiar! Two charging stations (one CCS and one CHadeMO each) were installed at a new Circle K gas station in my neighborhood. They are Shell-Recharge stations. They were fully installed at the beginning of December '22 and only turned on for use at the beginning of March '23! I stopped by several times in between to inquire about them and the manager seemed clueless and less than enthusiastic about them.
It was about three months from the time the EVGo chargers nearest me looked like they were complete until they were actually open for use.

Sounds similar to the situation here in Portland, Maine. The two 100 kW and single 350kW dispensers are now available as of about two weeks ago.

I don't know if it's the case everywhere, but word on Plugshare from someone who spoke to the crew was that they were waiting on a transformer to complete the installation.

I've noticed the same problem with the Evgo charging stations. Did you try finding other Evgo charging stations?

I'd recommend locating other charging stations from Plugshare. They have a separate category map for evgo, you should check: Map of EVgo Locations | PlugShare

I usually use Plugshare for Evgo chargers when renting a vehicle in USA.

I did not have a preference for EVgo. It was the convenience of them being in the hotel parking lot that we were staying.
I have been watching a new EV Go charging station in the Dallas / Ft. Worth area since August 2022. For a long time the chargers were installed but there was still bubble-wrap on the cables and charging plugs. It looks like the electric infrastructure is there. A few weeks ago the bubble-wrap was gone, but the station is still not open. 8 months and counting ......
I used an EVGO for the first time a few days ago. I got a message that I have a "card" in the mail and make sure to activate it. What is this card for? I thought you just did everything through the app

I applied for a card three years ago but never use it since the app does the job too. But recently I received a notice from the company that I could enable Plug-in Charge so I did that. It requires no card or app interaction. I went through the sign up process online and then had to go to a charger and start a charge in order to finalize the process. From now on it's just pull in and plug in. The session is automatically billed to my registered card. This is the way it needs to be for any charger in order to get people on the fence to buy into driving electric.

That's what that Chevy Bolt did when I was there. He just plugged it in and went into the store, and it just started up. I'll have to check into this also.
Same. It helps as a Canadian visiting the US without US data plans.
I charged with EV go the last couple of days. The first time it asked me if I want autocharger+, and I said yes. The next time it just started automatically without the phone.

In chicago it charges $0.3/min with no session fee for 350kw charger. I was pulling 250kw and it slowed to about 180kw when over 70% SOC. super nice deal.
Just stayed at that same Hotel exactly one month later and the chargers are still not online. Meant to take a picture and forgot. So that's at least 2 months
