No sunroof = No sale as far as I am concerned.
Head room is definitely at a premium in these cars.
Taller folks would be better off in an Ionic 5. That is if they can get over the Dodge Omni look…
No sunroof = No sale as far as I am concerned.I'd like to see an optional feature removal. In North America, being able to have a GT-Line WITHOUT a sunroof. I almost bought a second EV6 for our family, but My hair brushes the ceiling in the GTL because of the lower roof line. Same for all the high-trim offerings from Genesis, Hyundai, and Kia EGMP cars.
The only problem is the ionic 5 does not have a sunroof... a sunroof is a must for the wife which means it's a must for meNo sunroof = No sale as far as I am concerned.

CorrectNitpicking on my part, but I think you meant to say C-pillar? Trying to visualize as to how the rear seat belt buckles would manage to end up at or very close to the B-pillar...![]()
If y'all think our backup sound and sound generator in general is loud, WAIT UNTIL YOU HEAR A NEW Toyota HYBRID. They must be 10x louder and it's pure, raw, grinding white noise. You will be begging to having the existing one if Hyundai ever flips to doing the same thing as Toyota.Sadly not. It’s the you came back at 4am and woke us up on the other side of the house from more than one neighbour.
polite enough, but when you get home at all hours and have to reverse in I get their comments.
iI wonder how loud it is and if it constitutes the statutory nuisance levels.
If it was just vess or a quiet bong like a leaf it would be ok. It’s every bit as loud as the old Nero and I’m likely to need to ask Kia for a solution.
hearing me when near and hearing me 200-300 yards away are very different things.
Note that the US and Canada have different VESS sounds for reversing.I guess I'm lucky, when I'm in the house, I can't hear it. Even when I'm outside and the wife is reversing it, I can hear it, but it's no louder than say a leaf blower in the distance. They must have really cranked yours up. If you can find the speaker it's coming from, secure a small towel or something around it to muffle it.
Amazon is currently selling a dash cam that is powered through your rear view camera which makes it look oem because it replaces the original oem plastic cover wit the new one with dash camera builtinBuilt in dash camera in the US models which I've heard is available in the Korean models and a sentry mode like Teslas.
I personally don't mind the VESS as a safety feature. Most of the time I think it is useful and good to have. But I also rather not irritate someone else when it is reasonably avoidable. But there are times/places, like my very short driveway, where it doesn't make sense. Modifying or damping/muting the sound would make it less useful when it is being a safety feature. I appreciate your taking the time to respond and offering an option. But it is not the kind of mod I would care to do.I guess I'm lucky, when I'm in the house, I can't hear it. VESS Isn't going anywhere. It checks a federal mandate box.I would really like a 'Disable VESS' option, available as needed when backing. When switching out of reverse the VESS would return to normal function for the next occasion. It could be the star button on the steering wheel or a screen icon. No hardware necessary. Just a software change by Kia, including a place in settings to enable the 'option' (or not) as one wishes.
That way I wouldn't have to hear from my neighbours (or other motel occupants, or someone I am visiting, etc.) about backing in late at night. But it would still be there by default for the parking lot mayhem when shoppers and other drivers are too preoccupied to watch for backing vehicles, especially in bad weather.
I always back into parking slots, if possible, for safety reasons. So plenty of opportunities for me to momentarily disable VESS if I think it appropriate.
It would still be there as a safety feature. That safety feature is there for someone that's around the car that doen't realize it's moving to let them know to watch out. Those are the people that need to hear it. It's not a safety feature for someone a few blocks away in their house. Muffling the sound will accomplish that.I personally don't mind the VESS as a safety feature. Most of the time I think it is useful and good to have. However, if I could choose a different, perhaps more melodic sound for the VESS (like I can with my cellphone notifications) I would do that. Currently my vehicle sounds too much like a service truck backing up, not a beautiful EV.
It does this with the GTLine, at least for unlocking the doors. It would be nice if it would lock when you "got out of the car" and walked away. It does lock when you didn't get into the car and while walking away. i.e. like you walk by it to get the mail but you had your keys, so it unlocked then locked cause you walked by without getting in.Since my key fob for my Wind can open the mirrors on approach I'd also like it to unlock the doors and set the memory seat.
