Feature you’d like to see on your EV6

22346 Views 213 Replies 88 Participants Last post by  twcz3
In the hope that someone at Kia might read some of these forums I thought it might be an idea to pull together any features or additions you would like to see or feel would be useful additions to the EV6. Could be physical or software changes or additions. I am looking for positive ideas for improvements, not pleas for repairs to the existing issues covered elsewhere. To this end, please fee free to add yours below.

I will kick off the wish list with the option to allocate the internal alarm sensor deactivation to one of the programmable buttons for all of us that have dogs and want to avoid having to dive into three levels of menu to turn it off every time we have to lock the car in a supermarket car park.

I'd like to have the sun shade operate independantly of the sunroof (manual operation would be fine). This would allow us to tilt up the sunroof for ventilation while keeping the sunshade just open a bit to shield us from the sun.

What model have you got as on mine it is and I have the GTLS.

UK Manual page 5-36

Power sunshade: Use the power sunshade to block direct sunlight coming through the sunroof glass. Push the sunroof switch rearward to the first detent position, the power sunshade automatically slides open. Push the sunroof switch forward to the first detent position, the power sunshade automatically closes. However, if the sunroof glass is open, the glass will close first. To stop the power sunshade at any point, push the sunroof switch in any direction.

How does the above allow the sunroof to be tilted open, whilst the sunshade is closed, which was the original poster's feature request ?

You can tilt the sunroof and then move the blind with the instructions above.

This was the reason for my posting.

Sorry if it was not clear. (y)

Was hoping 2023 models would have that iPhone key. It's stupid that the new Niro has that feature but their flagship EV does not.

We have orderred a Canadian GT Line2 so our experience is from our test drive before putting down our deposit.
Our experience, however is as described in the manual: If the sunroof is tilted up, (for ventilation), it will close first before the sunshade can be moved. We cannot therefore have ventilation through the roof without a fully open sunshade.
Our existing car allows us to tilt the sunroof up and close the sunshade enough to block any glare from the sun.

The passage you quoted from the manual states that if you go to close the blind, an open sunroof will close. So how does that passage instruct the original poster how to have the sunroof tilted open whilst the sunshade is closed, which is what he wants to do ?.

Thanks for your reply. We'll have to try again when we finally get our car.
I'm now hopefull it was just operator error during our test drive :)
If the blind is closed and you push up to tilt, it will open the blind first before tilting the moonroof.

Hey! ... someone with a Canadian model !!!!. Once the moonroof is tilted up, if you jog the button forward, will it jog the sunshade forward without closing the moonroof?

I’ll check after work but I’m pretty sure it’ll close the roof before closing the sunshade. Thus, we can’t have the scenario that you wanted.

I can confirm that at least on my vehicle it is not possible to have the sunshade in the closed position while still allowing for the sunroof itself to remain in the opened or tilt position; any attempt to close the sunshade will force the sunroof to close or un-tilt first before then sliding the sunshade to the closed position.

Yeah it closes the moonroof then closes the shade.
Yeah it closes the moonroof then closes the shade.
Thank you to both you & tonester for checking that. With a bit of luck, maybe Kia will fix that before we get ours. :sneaky:

I will have to check my UK spec car to see if it does the same or like other things we are finding different locations can do things others can not.

Will update. (y)
Just got my Wind AWD. The one feature I'd love is an analog-style graphic for the instrument cluster. If anyone from Kia's here, I'd be happy to do some mock-ups!

Also, the ability to prevent the LKA icon from flashing all the time.. it's a bit distracting. Maybe I'll just turn it off...

First thing I looked for was the switch to turn LKA off... no switch. Buried in a menu. Thankfully, the other stuff has buttons.

I tested the sunroof on my (UK) EV6, it isn't possible to have the roof either tilted or open, with the sunshade closed.

Another feature request: I'd love if the trip computer / Kia Access would give a more detailed breakdown of trip data, such as automatically binning energy used in various speed bins (e.g., ">0 to 10mph", "10mph to 20mph", "20mph to 30mph", etc.) At the very least, perhaps show the amount of time at zero speed in the stats? Simply using average speed often isn't enough to get good data.

(Presently it's possible to sort of emulate this by resetting the trip manually on various legs... but this kind of cumbersome.)
I'd like the odometer stats page in the middle of the dash to show range based on the average used. Then you'd have a bigger base for guessing how much you have left and you know what it's based upon. The right side guessometer number comes from somewhere we don't really know.
