Full front PPF + ceramic coating + window tinting at Chicago Auto Pros

I feel a bit like an empty nester now, there's a hole that won't be filled until she is back, haha. My wife tagged along with her Mini and I drove it back after we had lunch, and... it's a plusher interior, but it does not have ventilated seats. Important when the weather finally hit 80+ ! And let's not talk about acceleration :p

Took out our leased Bolt that has been wintering in the garage, and... after basically almost half a year of not using it - ever since it started snowing - it really felt... very spartan inside.

Before I forget, any last minute instruction I should give the detailers before they start tomorrow? It's getting
  • full front PPF
  • ceramic coating
  • tinting on windshield (clear), front windows (50%, the max allowed in Illinois) and sunroof (clear)

And I just emailed them asking to have all the stickers removed (on windows and that pesky dealer sticker on the back) and see if they can do a better job than the dealer when remounting the front plate.

I took mine to detailer and they ended up breaking the front emblem off (for PPF), not knowing that it has two prongs that go into the hood, they did get another emblem from Kia. For the most part a reputable with good ratings establishment will know what they are doing generally.

Oof! Did they replace that at their own cost and just tell you afterwards?

Mine seems to have good ratings and they have fancier cars in their workshop (saw a Corvette, Porsche, and Lamborghini) and they have apparently done an EV6 before too, so fingers crossed.

They did replace it, they were very upfront on their mistake and took full responsibility. I just went back to them today and got my windshield done at 70% and a 5% strip along the top 6". Absolutely great work they do. They always have exotics as well, lots of McLaren, Bentley, Rolls....etc.

Nice! I'm skipping the top 6" myself since I mostly just want the heat rejection.

Well well ... I just got a call from the detailer, after previously they said the car might be delayed two days (because some of the PPF edges were peeling up), today I got a surprise call where they say the car can be picked up today (only a few hours later than the initial window), BUT... they broke the front emblem as well (they did not say that, they said they took it off and needed to get a replacement) and that the replacement might be running late.

(I told my wife this sounds like this other person on the Kia EV forum ... I forgot it's actually on this thread!)

I asked them to call back when they know when it will arrive - no way I'm picking up the car without the emblem! - and it ends up being this coming Friday. Which is what I cleared my calendar for anyway, so that works out.

The shop's system is apparently having problems sending videos, so I have nothing to show yet. Going to bring a USB drive there on Friday to get the photos and videos.

Really happy with how this turns out! Too bad it's not too hot today so I can't really check if the tinting really reduces heat absorption that much
