Still not the $45,000 he quoted. And what about income caps? Not everyone would qualify for the tax credit. What about the fact that the Model 3 is an Egg on wheels with an iPad as a dashboard. Tesla build quality also sucks. Other than that.....what a deal!!
Everybody's situation will be different but if you want performance, hard to beat something that fast for $54k. Its an incredible deal for those that do qualify for the tax credit.

Or a Taycan. Both double the price of an EV6 GT and i4.

At $140K, I’d rather have a BMW iX M60 that would be very competitive with an EV6 GT. I call it a stupid overpowered school bus but it is a glorious machine.
If I'm spending that much, I'd rather just get a Plaid at $115k and just enjoy going plaid at every street light 😁

In the end, the Model 3 Performance is the wrong car to compare to anyway. The EV6 GT is more Model Y Performance competitor and right now, its much cheaper than the EV6 GT.

Yep, this pretty much sums up my view too. 😄

I just can't get past the absolutely horrid interior of the Tesla.
An iPad glued to the dash, with nearly everything operated by wading through menus on that. Worst... interior design... ever.
The original Model S had the screen beautifully integrated into the dash, but then Tesla bizarrely decided to go cheap and ugly.
Plus it seems every man and his dog has a Tesla these days. Can't drive to the shops without tripping over half a dozen of them.

On paper the M3P owns the EV6 GT though. Faster, lighter, better range.
For track work... well I don't think either car is well suited to grinding out lap after lap for terribly long, but in practice I'm imagining that the M3P might have the edge on tracks with lots of tight, low speed corners, while the EV6 GT has better acceleration higher up the dial and might well have the edge on faster circuits with more flowing corners.
Standing start the M3P wins, but aound a circuit they're both closely enough matched that driver talent will have a much bigger impact than car choice.
Both will do about 20 minutes before needing to charge anyway. :ROFLMAO:

Actually the GT hase been proven to be a track performer for longer than anything else out there. It made 3 laps of Nuremburg, while the Tycan and M3P didn't make 1 witout porblems. heck the M3 only made it 3 corners...
Come on. Lots of people ran the ring with the M3P. A slightly modified one is around 8 minutes (brakes and suspension). A Taycan can lap it more than once too. Issue with the stock M3P is the brakes overheat but the battery and cooling are good for more than a lap. None of the modifications these days really change the powertrain...just brakes and suspension is all you see. I will be interested to see how the EV6 GT runs.

Just telling you what happened in testing for a car group. The GT video was posted all over the forums last week. Plenty of people "Run the ring", does not mean they push the car to limits, this crew pushed it, as is obvious if you watch the video.

So basically a stock M3P cannot run it hard, not without modding brakes, while the GT can in STOCK FORM, and did 3 laps with no problems. Other testers have also found that the EV6GT gores deeper into the pack and lower SOC than other cars before they restrict power.
If you are getting 8 min on the Ring, you are pushing the car hard and near its limits. A stock M3P overheats brakes easily but the powertrain / battery does not overheat on that first lap. M3Ps are doing extremely well in track events with simple mods (brakes and suspension) and makes a great track platform. They really dominate autocross events. A Taycan runs in 7min 42 seconds which is extremely quick.

For many buyers, you can get a $47k M3P with tax credits. Its simply an incredible value.

The question is… is the GT worth $20K more than a M3P? My dealer won’t budge from the $3500 markup.

I declined the i4 M50 order that arrived just before Christmas for the reason stated in the article above… the M50 is a pig on the corners. It’s a heavy luxury cruiser with premium features. The GT is bereft of luxury it seems but I’ve always said it was more track car than daily.
most people don’t actually track their cars. It’s just for bragging rights. $20k difference between the two cars is pretty big. Also, the Performance models functionally are the same as their regular models with great efficiency and long range while having the good charging network.

I see a lot of Model 3s though so maybe exclusivity and more practicality is worth the price difference.

There is allot more to it than mere stats on a page as many here have eluded too..
This article pretty much nails the GT's spirit and why many of us are drawn to it.

Funny I don't see ANY Tesla on that list of vehicles making to the final round, and too date not a single EV has ever made it that far, not even the venerable Porsche or Audi offerings...
The performance vehicle of the year is only for new cars in 2022.

Fact remains, no other EV has EVER made the list, Teslas were new at some point as well, as were the Porsche and Audi EV offerings, yet they NEVER made the final round.
Well the test was started last year so not much history and Tesla hasn't had anything new since 2021 (Plaid). Seems the GT is a lot of fun to drive but cons were that it has sloppy driving dynamics and registered a decent figure 8 (25.1s @ 0.77g). Comparatively a Taycan ran 23.6s @ 0.87g and M3P ran 24.3 @ 0.84g. Sounds like the car is fun to drive and likes to go sideways a lot per the review...more of a fast GT car than sports car. Its too bad they didn't release actual Buttonwillow times. Would be interesting to see what the cars got relatively.

Not sure where you are located, are you seeing the 1772 on Tesla chargers? I have heard rumors, but yet to hear it confirmed here in the US.

Are the Tesla folks you are seeing on ccs because Tesla chargers are full? Just proves opening superchargers is not the golden goose many think it is. Many prime spots the Tesla chargers are always full during any peak travel times.

The busiest chargers are the ones in the middle of a city where non home buyers need to charge on a regular basis. The ones that are on major highways are rarely full...I did the Thanksgiving trip from so-cal to nor-cal and the chargers were mainly 1/3rd full. Of course a lot of these highway ones had like 50 Superchargers running at 250kw so plenty of charge points. I've used CCS and Superchargers...Tesla's solutions are 1000x better.
