GT is hard to justify with recent model3 discounts.

I've been shopping around for an EV6 GT, but although it looks much better than any Tesla (inside and out), it doesn't compare too favorably anymore now that the Model 3-performance is only $45k. On top of that the GT has quite bit less range too.

But I really don't want a model3. It's so ubiquitous , and build quality is a dice-roll. Maybe I just hold out for the Lotus Eletre.

Edit: it's only close to 45k with the $7500 US federal tax credit for those who qualify

Both will do about 20 minutes before needing to charge anyway. :ROFLMAO:
Actually the GT hase been proven to be a track performer for longer than anything else out there. It made 3 laps of Nuremburg, while the Tycan and M3P didn't make 1 witout porblems. heck the M3 only made it 3 corners...

Come on. Lots of people ran the ring with the M3P. A slightly modified one is around 8 minutes (brakes and suspension). A Taycan can lap it more than once too. Issue with the stock M3P is the brakes overheat but the battery and cooling are good for more than a lap. None of the modifications these days really change the powertrain...just brakes and suspension is all you see. I will be interested to see how the EV6 GT runs.

Just telling you what happened in testing for a car group. The GT video was posted all over the forums last week. Plenty of people "Run the ring", does not mean they push the car to limits, this crew pushed it, as is obvious if you watch the video.

So basically a stock M3P cannot run it hard, not without modding brakes, while the GT can in STOCK FORM, and did 3 laps with no problems. Other testers have also found that the EV6GT gores deeper into the pack and lower SOC than other cars before they restrict power.

If you are getting 8 min on the Ring, you are pushing the car hard and near its limits. A stock M3P overheats brakes easily but the powertrain / battery does not overheat on that first lap. M3Ps are doing extremely well in track events with simple mods (brakes and suspension) and makes a great track platform. They really dominate autocross events. A Taycan runs in 7min 42 seconds which is extremely quick.

For many buyers, you can get a $47k M3P with tax credits. Its simply an incredible value.

Are you prepared to buy a car from a company that is happy to kill the resale value of it overnight ?

Or a Taycan. Both double the price of an EV6 GT and i4.

At $140K, I’d rather have a BMW iX M60 that would be very competitive with an EV6 GT. I call it a stupid overpowered school bus but it is a glorious machine.
IMO I hate the gold bands exterior and interior and the look of the vehicle for such a huge price tag! sorry not for me

On paper the M3P owns the EV6 GT though. Faster, lighter, better range.
For track work... well I don't think either car is well suited to grinding out lap after lap for terribly long, but in practice I'm imagining that the M3P might have the edge on tracks with lots of tight, low speed corners, while the EV6 GT has better acceleration higher up the dial and might well have the edge on faster circuits with more flowing corners.
Standing start the M3P wins, but aound a circuit they're both closely enough matched that driver talent will have a much bigger impact than car choice.

Of 42 cars that went through the grill in our extreme Nürburgring tests, three were powered by an electric motor. But none shone. The heavy BMW i4 M50 proved to be a little risky in turns, handicapped it is true by unsuitable tires. The Tesla Model 3 Performance appeared more rigorous but lost half its power in less than a lap and its brakes in less than three turns. As for His Majesty Porsche Taycan Turbo S, it is the one that impressed the most with its performance… for only one lap, before failing in “turtle” mode to cool its overheated batteries.
On the EV6 GT
The most stunning? That the power did not drop over the course, even after the 3 km of full load preceding the famous Carrousel bend. We just felt a slight regression in the reminders when the charge level fell below 30%, then one second below 15% without the car having been really restrained (the EV6 GT still exceeded 200 km/h at this stage!). Consumption was the last good surprise, with 92 kWh per 100 km displayed on the on-board computer when the BMW i4 M50 and Porsche Taycan Turbo S exceeded 130 kWh at this rate. Enough to ensure three laps with 100% [liquid cooled battery] without ending in [suffering]. At the Nürburgring, in electric, it is for the moment unique!
From the factory with no modifications, the EV6 GT outperformed the TM3P.

Also, if you guys haven't seen these videos, there are several upgrades to the GT's inverters, cooling system and brake logic.

The question is… is the GT worth $20K more than a M3P? My dealer won’t budge from the $3500 markup.

I declined the i4 M50 order that arrived just before Christmas for the reason stated in the article above… the M50 is a pig on the corners. It’s a heavy luxury cruiser with premium features. The GT is bereft of luxury it seems but I’ve always said it was more track car than daily.
Find another dealer. There are GT's out there sitting on the floor waiting on MSRP payment.

most people don’t actually track their cars. It’s just for bragging rights. $20k difference between the two cars is pretty big. Also, the Performance models functionally are the same as their regular models with great efficiency and long range while having the good charging network.

I see a lot of Model 3s though so maybe exclusivity and more practicality is worth the price difference.

The iX has glorious air suspension that make angels sing. It also has a 30 speaker Bowers and Wilkers audio system that makes most EV (Kia specifically) sound like an AM transistor radio. It's a step up from the 22 speaker Model S system (which is also glorious).

Not for me... but I can see why folks would pay for one.

I'm D-O-N-E with Kia dealers in Florida and most of the US. There's a handful I dealt with when I bought my Telluride and those I stay in contact with.

NOTE: I've owned a Kia for 10+ years before my EVs and dealt with various dealers in FL in that time.

Try the MO Kia dealers. Both I have worked with were awesome to deal with.

Make sure you compare insurance premiums if you're looking at price. Tesla's have been wildly expensive but the EV6 was actually cheaper than my previous car, a Kia Niro PHEV.

I chose the ev6 over the tesla after test drive. Kia is using the same technology they have proven in their Niro for years. It was so highly rated by Consumer Reports (79 out of 100 vice Teslas all under 49) that I took a chance. After 11 months I would not give up my EV6! I got the Wind plus the Technology package as I could not find a gt and I must say that it drives like my old Camaro V6, esp in turbo. We power it off our excess solar and it will take me 3 years to use up the 1000 kWh that came with it. The gt does have the sunroof but it takes 4 inches off head clearance so my 6’2” husband was happy to give up the sunroof for more comfort. The wind with tech pkg is $7000-10000 less than the gt. I do not miss the sunroof. I did add a tow pkg to mine and can tow 2000 lbs! Consumer Reports just released new ratings and put the ev6 in 31 position over all other electric cars 2022-23.

Last year Consumer Reports rated the EV6 at 79/100 and the Teslas at 49/100. New issue recently rated the EV6 the best electric car for sale today. I now feel sorry for Tesla buyers…

Cool! I have EV6 First Edition #143/1500. I love the car and about to hit 15,000 miles. It's just as fast as the day I got it, and comparing it to the Subaru WRX/STI I owned, it's about as fast as that racecar.

Pinged two... all spoken for.

I don't want hear about Wind AWD talk in this thread. These mid-4s EVs are turtles compared to the GT and M3P. lol.

My dealings with the MO has been okay so far.

Every time I deal with Florida Kia dealers - I feel dirty.

I pinged a local FL dealer about their GT... just curious. They asked for trade in, wanted me to submit a credit application (why? I don't even know what I am buying first of all), and when I told them about another deal they wanted to see that deal with the markup. At this point they've told me zilch about the car (I had to look up the window sticker on their site and they didn't even know the color themselves) and markup.

Complete opposite experience with BMW and Ford dealers here.
