GT is hard to justify with recent model3 discounts.

I've been shopping around for an EV6 GT, but although it looks much better than any Tesla (inside and out), it doesn't compare too favorably anymore now that the Model 3-performance is only $45k. On top of that the GT has quite bit less range too.

But I really don't want a model3. It's so ubiquitous , and build quality is a dice-roll. Maybe I just hold out for the Lotus Eletre.

Edit: it's only close to 45k with the $7500 US federal tax credit for those who qualify

for what ever it’s worth the model 3 is more a sedan than a crossover with a hatchback, not as utilitarian, and certainly not as snazzy looking as the EV6. You should be comparing the model Y with the EV6

Another reason to avoid Tesla is the shady BS they pull behind the scenes. They apparently downgraded the BremBo performance brakes on the MY Performance and then covered it up by putting a cover on the caliper

Both will do about 20 minutes before needing to charge anyway. :ROFLMAO:

Track use, seriously? However good the GT or the M3P are, neither are remotely good track cars. You would be far better off buying a cheap Miata, or if you want more power, an old M3 to use on track. The amount you would save on tyres alone would probably pay for it before long!

Sure… I could have bought a M340i or M3 or Miata or Boxster for the track but why? The whole point is to try something different. I track all my EVs. I’ve gotten a few other racers hooked on them too. It’s fun and ridiculous to be sliding around in a 5000lb sled lol.

I mean, I see people tracking turbo-charged station wagons. I’m done with gas except for road trips in an SUV.
The question is… is the GT worth $20K more than a M3P? My dealer won’t budge from the $3500 markup.

I declined the i4 M50 order that arrived just before Christmas for the reason stated in the article above… the M50 is a pig on the corners. It’s a heavy luxury cruiser with premium features. The GT is bereft of luxury it seems but I’ve always said it was more track car than daily.
Bereft of luxury? Whats it lacking besides vented seats and electronic buttons to futz with once and then forget?

It has:

Hud
Adaptive suspension
Lane change
Lane blind spot cameras
Heated wheel and seats

Aside from wireless AA/ACP, and massage seats, what else do you want?

I recently switched from a model 3 to a Wind AWD and completely disagree with this post. Just to begin with, you don't want the UI/UX nonsense Tesla has cooked up there. Not to mention the phantom braking and the "fast and loose with the safety rules" culture that exists at Tesla.
I did a lot of research before I bought my Wind EV6. It is perfect? No it is not, no car is perfect.
After almost a year and 8K miles driven in Summer and Snow would I buy it again? Absolutely. Would I trade it in? No, not even for 3 Teslas.

I don't need luxury per se. I am just stating that I don't think the GT is a luxury EV.

i4 has rear air suspension for the adaptive suspension. It's not the buttery smooth iX air suspension but it's half way there.
I'd want a better audio system than the Meridan. It is noticeably worse than luxury audio systems.
EV6 GT has manual seats with no memory.
HUD is nice but Kia's HUD doesn't work with polarized glassed. Had it on the Telluride and it's one feature that needs some re-working.
The safety features are good (same ones as I am familiar with on the Telluride). Luxury level... yes.
Some luxury EVs now have hands-free driver assists. SuperCruise on the Lyriq and the Pro PILOT 2.0 on the upper trims of the Ariya ($60K).

High end luxury EVs also have air suspension...there's massive difference in ride quality over coils.

There is allot more to it than mere stats on a page as many here have eluded too..
This article pretty much nails the GT's spirit and why many of us are drawn to it.

Funny I don't see ANY Tesla on that list of vehicles making to the final round, and too date not a single EV has ever made it that far, not even the venerable Porsche or Audi offerings...

It's not and was never MEANT to be a pure luxury car. You want pure Luxury get the GV60, they are very luxurious and opulent. But it is also not without its luxury features, hardly bereft of any luxury. Testla exemplifies lack of luxury imho, they are like riding in a clorox bottle...

The GT is about FUN, and vanquishing the trials and tribulations of the day with a hit of 545lb-ft of torque stepping the rear end out as you rocket out of a corner grinning like a teenager. If people can't see that or do not appreciate it, don't buy it, leave it to the other adult children that will enjoy it and send it whenever possible!

The performance vehicle of the year is only for new cars in 2022.

I don't wear polarized glasses, but oof.
Yeah, I am a huge HK and burmeister fan.
To hell with an air suspension. No. Hard pass.

No, its not luxury, but its not bad at all. It has way more luxury than my Volvo c40, a supposed luxury vehicle. No hud. No adaptive suspension. No driver assist except an iffy lane keep and radar cruise. No vented seats. No AA or ACP. No laminated glass windows on the sides.

The GT handles significantly better than the other d models in my view. It’s not just the additive dampers, it has an electronic diff and different motors.

In addition the sports seats and interior in alcantara is very nice

Fact remains, no other EV has EVER made the list, Teslas were new at some point as well, as were the Porsche and Audi EV offerings, yet they NEVER made the final round.

SO WELL SAID!!!!

Well the test was started last year so not much history and Tesla hasn't had anything new since 2021 (Plaid). Seems the GT is a lot of fun to drive but cons were that it has sloppy driving dynamics and registered a decent figure 8 (25.1s @ 0.77g). Comparatively a Taycan ran 23.6s @ 0.87g and M3P ran 24.3 @ 0.84g. Sounds like the car is fun to drive and likes to go sideways a lot per the review...more of a fast GT car than sports car. Its too bad they didn't release actual Buttonwillow times. Would be interesting to see what the cars got relatively.
Hyundai and Kia "dealers" had the highest profit levels in Massachusetts due to their "supply chain" markups! And they are first to adjust Used Car Prices down. I can't respect their business [email protected]
