My Android phone must have downloaded some update over the weekend. Android Auto now displays in full screen.
My S21 Ultra is up-to-date and my head-unit has the Dec 22 update and I can't get AA in full-screen?

The best I can get is AA on one side and small Android music player on the side. So yes AA is using the whole screen but it's doing split-screen. Is that how it's supposed to work?

I've tried the developer option to set resolution.
I've checked the Kia split screen setting is off.

My Android Auto is at version 8.6.625054-release.
I had tried to join the beta program some while ago and last Saturday, my phone downloaded an app called Android System Webview (116MB). Not sure whether it is related, but on Sunday, to my complete surprise, I noted that Google maps on AA was now full screen.
All my settings are similar to yours, developer mode is off and KIA split screen setting is off for AA.

Thanks for that.. I updated to same versions and still no good.
Then I tried pressing the Google Maps icon and full-screen! So you can toggle between full-screen and split screen with that.

Thanks again..

Glad you sorted it out.... When you press the bottom icon on the right, you can get to display the apps that are available on AA. The icon toggles between the shape on your first pic and the one on the second.
Pressing the Google Maps icon expands it to full screen.

In my opinion, Google Maps in full screen looks way better than the native KIA navigation screen.

While on the subject of Google Maps, for the past couple of weeks I had been getting the message that GPS signal was lost. As far as I know, this only happened under Android Auto.
At first I thought my phone needed repair, but I looked up various forums and found a suggestion to change the permissions for Google Maps so that it has access to Location "all the time" rather thanwhen "app is in use". Problem fixed.....

Enjoy

It seems like some deliveries of the GT are now occuring. A dealer in Ballarat has one available immediately (buyer pulled out), and I heard of someone else who is scheduled to get theirs next week.

Mine... well it's at least marked as "scheduled" to build in the Kia System, but no VIN or date yet.

I'm not sure what your original estimated wait time was, mine (a RWD GT-Line) was ordered one year ago, but the vehicle is now built, has a VIN number and sitting at the docks ready for a boat to Australia (y)

Ooh, that's exciting for you!!
I'll be interested to hear how long shipping takes.

I ordered 12 months ago and there was never any real expected delivery date because they just didn't know.

...and that frustrated me no end, the dealer said they don't get told much at all until the vehicle is produced, so info is scarce, I'd imagine you'd be getting close to the same timeframe as me then, keep probing your dealer and don't give up hope LOL :)....that said until it's in my hot little hands we'll never know the real timeframe !

Hi Andy, yes I deleted it. Didn't want to jinx it in case the dealer was wrong ( which wouldn't be the first time )

Hopefully it is true, but as there is no VIN # yet and no pricing, i'll just put this down to a "maybe" at this time.
Just how they didn't even send me an email tends to leave me a bit cold.

Ooh, I didn't see your original post, but mine has moved into a "scheduled" status for build. No VIN yet though. My dealer has told me that until a VIN is assigned it can actually switch back to unscheduled or face other unspecified delays. Once the VIN is allocated he says it's about a 2-3 month wait. Also, I didn't receive any notification from the dealer, I only found any of this out by talking to them.

Hi Dave, no you don't want to jinx yourself, BUT things are progressing which is more than I could say a few weeks ago. Now that my vehicle has a VIN# and is sitting awaiting shipping, the dealer was hinting 8 weeks till it hits the showroom, but mentioned also the quarantine dramas here Total ship show: Quarantine crisis deepens, 60,000 new cars stuck at sea and ports so it might be possibly further delayed, time will tell, but the light at the end on the long tunnel is getting brighter !!!

Hopefully things are moving Steyr, there seems to be a bit more fluidity now and hopefully wait times decrease, it'd still be good from a customer POV if Kia could improve their comms and streamline order to delivery notifications, I'm sure that wouldn't take much !

Thanks Andy, yes i am grateful that things at least appear to be moving in a forward direction.
I had no idea about that quarantine issue though
