Induction loop charging Wireless Car charging - e gmp platform?

Now that the Genesis EV60 has been launched, the three models and variations of the Hyundai group platform can be compared. One of the interesting elements of the GV60 launch video is the induction loop charging by simply driving into your garage onto a pad. I was aware that Hyundai group are testing Ioniq 5‘s with this facility in Korea (to confirm it doesn’t disrupt other wireless signals such as phone, etc) so the platform has the ability, and the launch video shows a car driving into a garage with this installed. Apparently it can run at 94% efficiency on standard 7/11 kw chargers so subject to cost this will be an interesting one. Retrofit to EV6 would be of potential interest as obviously not an option up front.

Just wondered if anyone knows more and interested in opinions. Personally very impressed that Hyundai group are pushing the envelope by potentially making such facilities available when other ‘big boys’ are churning out the same old ICE car just re wrapped and converted to EV power source, H seem to be well ahead of the curve on a number of features.

I always thought wireless charging was way less efficient. We barely get 94% using a cable?

I assumed the efficiency indicated is in comparison with wired.

The technology has really moved on. It's about the same efficiency as a long cable BUT... you still have some small losses between the PAD and the mains supply. It's very close. It's more expensive so many will just prefer to plug in but there's a place for it for Taxi's and Buses ... and for those too posh to plug in ;-) I know of one very high end brand who are launching with this.
