Yep, agree with this, Kia must be holding back our cars, so that they are able to distribute them over several countries.

Did mention it on a previous thread saying that they have used the parts on USA FE cars

Unfortunately I can see the sense of this, but it doesn't make me any happier that we are getting penalised because we want the top spec car. Maybe there is less profit on a GT-Line S AWD than the rest?

I want my car now and am going to hold my breath until I get it...........

Just for info.

I pre-ordered my car in May for a Nov delivery, saw one in July and had a test drive in October.

Thought the idea of taking pre-orders is that Kia could then make sure that the cars ordered would be produced and delivered when originally quoted. I didn't expect it to be Nov with the current chip shortage, but to be now told there isn't ANY concrete delivery date only rumours is a joke.

Why bother asking how many x,y,z cars and then not actually producing them for the UK orders and yet then going on to supply almost the same spec car in other countries?

Well I have actually got an update!!!

I pestered Kia UK on Twitter via DM and this is what I got back -

"We have a small batch of GT-Line S AWD expected in March. These will be assigned to the earliest May back orders. We're sorry we don't have individual orders assigned VINS at this stage so we can't see if yours is amongst them. If not in the March batch, it'll be delivered in July. Your dealer will inform you of shipping updates in the later stages of supply chain."

After a couple more messages, I got this -

"Your model is due to go into production in early March and this gives us a delivery estimate of late May."

"We do have over 800 back orders of GT-Line S and many of these are pre-reservation customers from last April."

So I hope they are telling me the truth, there was some other personal info which I won't post, which leads me to believe that is was not just a "robot" answer and someone actually took the time to look into my order.

Fingers crossed 🤞

I don't get this "We're sorry we don't have individual orders assigned VINS at this stage". myself, and others on this forum have been given production dates and delivery dates based on order numbers......no vin mentioned.
No I don't understand what they are on about, must be something about when the VIN is created/registered which must be when the car is beginning it's build.

AFAIK - Basically if there is no VIN, there is no car!

I still haven't bothered to contact my dealer. Seeing as Kia UK have updated me, thought it would be interesting to see if they are actively looking at their order book.

Well it has only been 6 days since I found out the May delivery date.

Any bets how long the dealer will take to do their job and inform me?

Sounds a familiar story.

Just spoke to my dealer.
Arrives in the UK 8th May,
Gets to dealer 19th May,
Delivery to me 24th/25th May.

He said that apparently any updates will be carried out during the PDI at the port.

So the last delivery to me date of 9th May has slipped yet again.

Trying to get excited, but just waiting for the next excuse!

I can't even seem to be able to get that from my dealer, even though I have asked for it.

Not sure why they will not provide this its on the Kia SAP system and they have access to this, unless they have something to hide from you and let hope this is not the case
Well I spoke to the sales manager and he was reading the dates out to me. Still annoyed that I am getting the car later than others who ordered Nov/Dec...
Still got to wait almost 2 more months 🙁

If i was to go back and quote the original post title.

Is Kia telling the truth about delays in UK cars?
Then i would have to say ‘clearly not’.

Are they worroed about people cancelling orders?
Clearly not. They know there are people waiting in line to take your car / place.

Will i be cancelling my order?
The chances of this happening are going up daily, and may well happen next week.
"Telling the truth" - Not sure if I 100% agree with this, think it is more they are making guesses, which in normal times would work! But as the world is so messed up at the moment they don't. Also think that the communication coming from Kia Korea is rubbish, it's like they are talking a different language or something, which leaves Kia UK in a bad situation.

"Worried about cancelling" - Yes and No, at the moment all car manufacturers are struggling to meet demand and there are a lot of people who will take any vehicle they can get.

"Will I be cancelling" - I had thought about it as the delays mean that the car I get will be out of date and the new & improved version will be out, but looking at the Ioniq 5 MY22.5 spec, it looks like "new & improved" means a few features are getting cut rather than added!
But regardless of that, NO, definitely not, I like and want an EV6. Will it be the perfect car? No, I'm sure there will be some things I don't like, but would have to be pretty major to make it a "deal breaker".

I've given up trying to guess what ship my car is on.
The delivery date to the dealer keeps changing every week or so, just gone from 9/5 to 25/5 even though it is on a ship!

Maybe they had to divert? The ship tracking is pretty sketchy as well and is frequently out of date by days/weeks.

I have found another website that seems to track ships better than vessel finder

These ships are all going to Immingham
Taipan due 21/04
Morning Conductor due 04/05
Treasure due 09/05

Don't know which one has my car on it, but if I can believe the dealer it will be on the "Treasure".

Funny you should ask. Just had a call from my dealer saying that my car should arrive in the UK on the 5th May, so looks like it is on the Morning Conductor.

He said that it will be in the workshop for 4-5 days, so should expect it to be around the middle of May, but will call me next week probably on Thursday when the ship is at Immingham.

Finally some good news 🤞 :)

You should have something like this,

Shows you all the information once the car is in production.

Have you had any updates on your delivery yet?

I am hoping that mine is on the Morning Conductor which is due in tonight.

My dealer said that he would call this week, won't be holding my breathe for a call tomorrow

Does anyone know how fast cars are moving through Immingham?

It was due to leave the workshop today, its landed and at Immingham but due to the boat docking late it has been delayed by a week so i am hoping next Saturday could finally be the day.

As for yours, if the boat docks on time they clear the cars within 24 hours, they take a day or two to enter the workshop and then that takes 4 to 5 days, then out, allocated to car transporter and delivered 2-3 days later.

My Dealer has said 2-3 days to check car over, fully charges etc.

Then handover.
That's annoying about the late docking, but you and I are pros at waiting 😁

The dealer gave me 15th/16th for delivery to them, so working on your times that would be right in a perfect world  so probably a week after that, hopefully before June so I can drive it up to Norfolk.
