I ride motorcycles and the Bike forums that I belong to are brag spots- everybody shows off their latest mods and upgrades. Occasionally someone will bring up a question like- has anyone had any problems with their elctra-glide and the adjustable ride system etc...BUT nothing like this constant whining.
The problem with the EV6 is new and more new.
First EV is to market the strongest this year since fuel hit that national high level of $5.01 June 2022. California was at $7 plus a gallon. That drove the EV market to MSRP overpricing highs to start with that just piss off people. So the expectation starts to get really high when you fork out $70,000 USD on a $58,000 car. KIA dealer want premium, well you better deliver on premium service when the car has issues. AND THEY DONT.. so that is on the dealers and KIA corporate.
Then we are talking about a completely new platform that was designed in 2015 there about. 2015 was nothing like today with better electronics and batteries. However you cannot just put 2022 technology in a 2015 platform. The COVID of 2020 set back the world. Not just one industry, but all industries and the people in those industries. We will not recover from that even by 2025. That makes people mad.
People that are mad and frustrated have now learned that a voice is out there on the internet. All the sudden you can reach 12000 20000 50000 100000 1000000people in one viral video. If its the death of a person, a car, or a whole industry, it can happen over night now. Some it is good, alot it is bad.
People need results and answers in todays world on the spot. Car breaks down, fix it in 24 hours is the expectation. KIA is not there. GM and Ford have alot of practical application in this area. My brand new truck with 49 miles needed a part and it was overnighted and back to running in 36 hours. GM can do that. Requires alot of good people. Plan B was to even take the part from a brand new truck on the dealer lot if UPS did not deliver that part as I was told on OverNight Express.
Guys, my experience with KIA is so bad over all from a sales perspective. That dealership in Rockwall was dirty, the people were dress like they just got out of school or left home to go to a movie. Then the dealer was not much better in PA where I got the car. The dealership was clean, the sales people were dressed in nice business attire, but the quality of BS in the workmanship and deliver of the keys to me, that was really bad. You should have heard the SA trying to sell a car to the couple next to me. The story is too long to get the full picture of this SA talking. I thought I was at some hole in the wall used car sales floor area.
So EV has a long way to go to be the primary shopping experience we have today with bikes and ICE cars/trucks.
