Kia EV6 - UK

Hi Everyone, I thought I would start up a thread specifically for UK-based subscribers.

I have recently ordered a Kia EV6 GT-Line S 4WD in Matt grey with Heat Pump. I had originally signified my interest by paying a £100 refundable deposit (returned last week direct from Kia). On the 4th May my dealership, Newbarn in Bognor Regis (great people to work with) took a £500 deposit and ordered my car.

As of today I have no delivery date (October 2021 has been mentioned). However the orders were well over-subscribed here in the UK so I am unsure how that will affect delivery, hopefully I will be near the front of the queue if it is based on ordering time.

I have yet to see any photographs of a grey EV6 GT-Line S (unless someone knows differently) and so have to rely on the scant written data available.

On delivery I will be asking the dealer to take the car to the local CeramicPro installer for them to clean and cover the car, glass, wheels and interior with their magic goo. Hopefully that will protect the car from Seagulls and sea spray!

Interested to hear from others who have ordered and how their experience has been to date, and what news they have been able to pick up.

Hi all. if your dealer contacted you when your car went into production and gave you shipping dates , I’d suggest you give them a call and ask they check the schedule again.
I was told mine had shipped and the system showed an expected arrival in the uk on 26th May which all matched being on the Grand Uranus (no sniggering). but I’ve just found out today that it’s already in the UK.
no idea when Kia’s system updated ( my dealer wasn’t checking ) and I found out only because I popped in to discuss the financing side of things.
Hi Martin,
Did you see the screen? My car is also due 26th May and my dealer gave me a schedule of arrival 26th May clear customs and await transport 30th May workshop 5 days and ship to dealership between 7- 9th June and a collection hopefully of 8 - 10th June, they have kept me updated almost weekly since vin allocation.
The reason I ask is there are some dealerships that don't really keep up to date and just wait for the car to reach them, my dealer has said he will contact me next once the car clears customs and heads to Immingham.
But would not complain one bit if I got a call to say its here early (y)

Yup saw the screen today. They still can’t guarantee anything - there was one on their list that was showing a delivery date to them of the 15th that they still don’t have. But for mine it showed it was in the compound

There has been a recent arrival on Glovis and that left similar time to the Grand Uranus.
Bet you're iching to pick it up now;)

I’d come to terms with the car arriving a couple of weeks after I needed it to drive to Scotland for a wedding. Who would have thought ordering in March 2022 wasn’t early enough!
But I’m now facing the prospect that if everything goes perfectly I just might have it in time, but more realistically, something will slip in the timings and it will arrive a couple of days late. In some ways I wish I’d not found out so I hadn’t raised my hopes up!

Everything crossed for you 🤞
I would take delivery dates with a pinch of salt from KIA!!
I ordered 08th March 2022 (EV6 GTLineS AWD with HP in White), was told built on 19th April 2023 and shipped 25th April 2023 placing it on the Morning Lily EUKOR ship currently tracking as heading up the Red Sea for the Suez Canal. My delivery date was showing as 20th June 2023 but this has moved to 05th July 2023 with no aparrent reasoning. I suspect that the ship will be calling into other ports in Europe ahead of the UK (Southampton before being transferred by road up to Immingham). My spec shows three cables to be supplied 1. Type 2 to Type 2, 2. V2L and 3. Type 1 granny charger which I'll be asking for. If I'm not offered the granny charger due to unavailability or manufacturing changes with the spec, then I will ask for something in its place (i.e. servicing plan discount by £170.00 that will allow me to then purchase one from Screwfix or the MP plug that have been highighted in the earlier comments within this thread (Thank you in advance for those members who have contributed).
My charger was installed in April 2023 (Myenergi Zappi 2) so I'm now regularly dusting off the cobwebs outside!! I'm also looking at the display on the charger showing lots of electricity being generated by my Solar panels that will provide my free charging for a very large part of the year (smugness prevailing!)
It has been a long....long...wait indeed for many of us, especially as mine was supposed to be delivered in September 2023 when I placed the order back on 08th March 2022! At least I'm now down to weeks and not months to wait.
Happy and safe driving
Hey Paul update from my dealer with date changes he is telling me Land in UK date as 12 Jun, slipped from 6Jun. My confirmed shipping date was 3May which should put me on the Morning Lily with you. The dealer says they have no visibility of the actual ship the car is loaded onto, so checking the various tracking I see Morning Lily was in PYTK for loading 3 times 28Apr, 30 Apr and 2May finally heading for Suez on 2May, due there this evening at 1800, but after that Lily is due Wallhamn SW 8Jun, Bremerhaven DE 13Jun, Antwerp 15Jun and finally Southhampton on 17Jun which puts the probable delivery to dealer date to last week of June now:confused:

Picked mine up this morning, took it home, loaded it up with my wife, baby and all the crap that you need to keep a baby alive and drove 133 miles to my parents. I absolutely love it - was well worth the wait. I’m also quite impressed by the actual range I got. Mostly 70 on the M1/M25 but lots of traffic so not steady and my Kia connect app is saying I averaged 4.10miles/kWh! Didn’t get a granny charger even though I asked but decided not to let that take the shine off a great first day with the car!
All the crap you need..........

Tickled me , cheers and good luck with her.
You can tell I'm getting a little twitchy about this, latest tracking of Morning Lily shows its now left Suez heading for Rotterdam.
Latest Schedule
Departed Suez 23May Arr Rotterdam 1Jun
departs Rotterdam 2Jun Arr Wallhamn 6Jun
departs Wallhamn 7Jun Arr Bremerhaven 9Jun
departs Bremerhaven 12Jun Arr Antwerp 14Jun
departs Antwerp 14Jun Arr Southampton 16Jun

well at least its 1 day ahead of previous schedule;)

I'm being teased like many others, my car is in the UK, was promised via lease company delivery date of 30.05.23, update today......"your car is stuck at the Kia holding yard at the Port pending transport to the dealership" now looking mid June.... once checks etc have been carried out.

RWD GT-S Black - ordered May 2022
Similar to @MJF1234 my dealer tells me my car is 'Workshop Out' and awaiting to be assigned to a transporter for shipping up to bonnie Scotland. It can't take that long - can it?

Once transported to your dealer which is a day or two, dealer PDI, you should have it in a week tops.
Once transported to your dealer ....
That's the killer :(

It should be 2-3 days.
Or 6 - see post #6,266

Wonder if the issues in the Suez Canal has caused delays?

Tugboats had been working to refloat the bulk carrier, named Xin Hai Tong 23, the company said earlier today.

That would be nice to think but I was told by my dealer that the car was in the country two weeks ago. It STILL hasn't arrived with them.

Despite that, he wanted to register it - Kia want to bump up their sales figures.

Needless to say, I refused - I would like to think that, at the very least, the dealer had it!

How not to sell a £50k car!

Could the delay be due to the issue I posted above where a ship had blocked the Suez Canal, this would have stopped all vessels travelling up this important gateway.

I was told my car is awaiting transport, it's status changing to 'workshop out' on 17th. Dealer said he will call me as soon as it changes to 'assigned to load' (the next step). Maybe 'gate out' the following day and delivered to dealer the day after that. Two days after that, happy days 😊.

8 days later, still no call. Maybe he has forgotten to call me, and he'll ring this afternoon to say it's arrived - but probably not.

I am still hopeful to get it by 31st to maximise the VED refund on the current car. Registering a new car on or about the last day of the month doesn't seem so bad when the VED is £0!
