Kia EV6 - UK

Hi Everyone, I thought I would start up a thread specifically for UK-based subscribers.

I have recently ordered a Kia EV6 GT-Line S 4WD in Matt grey with Heat Pump. I had originally signified my interest by paying a £100 refundable deposit (returned last week direct from Kia). On the 4th May my dealership, Newbarn in Bognor Regis (great people to work with) took a £500 deposit and ordered my car.

As of today I have no delivery date (October 2021 has been mentioned). However the orders were well over-subscribed here in the UK so I am unsure how that will affect delivery, hopefully I will be near the front of the queue if it is based on ordering time.

I have yet to see any photographs of a grey EV6 GT-Line S (unless someone knows differently) and so have to rely on the scant written data available.

On delivery I will be asking the dealer to take the car to the local CeramicPro installer for them to clean and cover the car, glass, wheels and interior with their magic goo. Hopefully that will protect the car from Seagulls and sea spray!

Interested to hear from others who have ordered and how their experience has been to date, and what news they have been able to pick up.

Hi MJF1234,
Did they not give more detail, that all sounds very odd to me, a car in the country for a month prior to delivery to depot? Did they confirm when it cleared the workshop? And with the increase of vars now arriving there delivery system will be overwhelmed very quickly if they are struggling that bad.
The only other thing is if you lived out of the way and they are waiting to group other cars with it, which would be very unfair, hope it turns up before mid June for you.
Hi Ian, thanks for the reply

I’ve ordered via a lease company so I’m getting very little detail apart from an email update now & then. They said it was in the country on 9th of this month & I’d get delivery by end of the month but now the latest updates just seem weird.

They won’t tell me what dealer it’s going to either which doesn’t help as I’m based in Birmingham so doesn’t make sense as we’re not difficult to get to

Sounds dodgy to me, the lease company are stalling for sure.

seems weird yes but not unusual.

wife has ordered a Peugeot 2008 and been told that a lot them are sitting at port for 4-6 weeks before being transported to dealer!!
thanks, I have been told there are major delays due to the volume of cars being delivered to the UK so now its lack of car transport vehicles to move them to dealerships.

the positive news is its alot earlier than my update in Q1 saying "October delivery now"

100% my car us sitting on Grand Uranus waiting to Dock at Southampton, my dealer has said 8th to 10th June to them and will update each stage.
The reason it seems so dodgy to me is for a car to land in the UK in early May there HAS to be an exceptional reason it can't be delivered until mid June, sounds like the information is wrong on either arrival or mid June delivery, I really really hope you get it soon buddy 🤞

The post response if you look was to MJF1234?

No, was agreeing with you that seemed dodgy, just then went on to hope MJF1234 gets his car soon, sorry for the confusion :LOL:
My 'Theory of the Day' regarding why it seems to be taking so long to get cars to dealerships once landed in the UK.

@Ianw68 is convinced his car is on the GU (due to dock yesterday evening but currently at anchor just off the IoW, waiting to get into Southampton to unload). Recently, other car carriers have also deposited their loads here. BUT, Kia process all imported cars at their massive facility in Stallingborough, near the port of Immingham. Most cars arrive at the port of Immingham, hence developing their UK distribution centre here.

So now, cars arriving at Southampton (or any other non-Immingham port) have to be transported up to Stallingborough for processing before being transported to dealers. This has added an almost doubling of requirement for car transporters in recent weeks. I would guess Kia have long term contracts with haulage companies and their capacity is now overloaded and there is likely a finite number of transporters available which are not contracted to other manufacturers.

Just a theory ;)

I was at my dealer yesterday and he showed me his screen with about a dozen EV6 (including mine) with a delivery date of 24th May. None of them had arrived. THey did get a load of cars yesterday including one which the system showed was due to be received on the 5th!
I must admit I did feel sorry for him since he's at the receiving end of the frustration from buyers despite clearly having no influence over the situation.

Crazy for 2 months at sea to then wait 2 months for a car in the UK :(

Could be, great theory but you may be correct in your thoughts.

Don't feel sorry for them, that's what they are paid for. ;):ROFLMAO:

They don't feel sorry your order is delayed or late.

Bit cynical there JK-KIAEV6. I'm sure you were very polite to your poor dealer....

Polite yes, never rude as that get your no where but did not once feel bad for them and the hassle they were getting as my car was delayed from promised date by over 6 months, had to chase for answers which again I think is poor service and did they ever say sorry. never, offer a gift for your extended wait, NO, so feel sorry for them, nope. ;)
I don't know about your situation but it wasn't the dealer who caused the delay to the promised dates in my case. And I'm not expecting them to take the financial hit and give me a gift because there is a problem somewhere higher in the chain at KIA.
I'm not losing any sleep over how they are feeling - if you've ever worked in a situation where there is no level of "service" you can provide to make up for the failures elsewhere in the system you don't control it might resonate and maybe a bit of sympathy is in order. I doubt Kia are upping their commissions to compensate them for having to be the face of their poor delivery.

Hi all
Well the promised delivery time has now gone, and my EV6 is still not on my drive. The dealer advised last week your car will be here next week, worst case scenario it will be Friday (May 12th) after a phone call to dealership, they appear clueless as to when the transporter with my car on it will arrive at the dealership, don't these transporter lorries have GPS and a schedule for their deliveries so they can be tracked and passed to customers, seems not. All the salesman will say it will probably arrive next week. Not a happy customer right now
My dealer is waiting for 20 vehicles to arrive from Immingham including mine. I looks like another week +/- a week to wait.
It has messed up the sale of my current EV. Now I'll have to start all over again when I get a firm ETA for my car. The other bummer is that Kia want the cars registered as soon as the come into the UK (according to my dealer). That means a May reg for mine even though it could be mid june before I get it.

I saw the Grand Uranus sitting off the Isle of Wight from the ferry from Ouisterham on Monday evening. Strange that it would sit there for so long?
