KIA EV6 USA (after the FE) reservation system--how/when will it open?

8253 Views 33 Replies 18 Participants Last post by  KCElectric
If a physical order can perhaps be placed for an EV6 here in the USA in December, we wonder when/how this might occur? Could a list of interested people be opened soon, followed later by a December order, Or, will it all happen, bang, at some moment in December?

Already, I see that individual dealers are offering a wait list. Here is an example:

But, when I went you my local dealer, they said no there will just be a national list on the main Kia USA website, and we will not have to choose a dealer at that point. One could imagine a run at this list with available cars taken in a short period (30 minutes?).

Sure would be nice if those of us here who are spending lots of time dreaming about the EV6 could get some advanced notice from someone with actual knowledge about what is going to happen...hint, hint...

Hey there @ColoradoKia, happy Tuesday!

So, I'm expecting ordering to open up here in the US within the next 30 days. This would allow any dealership in the nation to place an order for a guest that wants one.

The bigger question is what is your local dealer going to charge you for that EV6 that you want to order??? LOL

I asked this same thing on another link, but this is a better place to reply:
MurlinatoR, we understand that the Thanksgiving to Christmas period is when we may be able to order one, thanks for that info, but do you also have any idea how many cars might become available for the USA? Whether particular models may come first or all of them available, and anything else about the impending ordering period in a few weeks? Thanks!

Hey @ColoradoKia, happy Friday! Here's the answer I gave on the other thread.

So, to answer your question simply, no. LOL

I do know that they are ALWAYS wrong with their expected breakdown. They always guess what percentage of sales will be for each model and they always go heavy on low trims and light on high trims thinking that the masses will gravitate to the lower price. It's always wrong. I'm speculating that 65% or more will want the top trim available. That said, it's the US and this is a full EV and it's expensive and no chips and mining lithium for batteries....

I'm super worried that the US will receive less than 2,000 a month for allocation which will mean that it will take a while to get your order in your driveway just like everything else popular at the moment. Telluride sells 8,000 a month, Sorento 6,000, Sportage 7,000, K5 5,000, Forte 7,000, Seltos 5,000... and all of these models are taking months and months to get orders filled for.

Only time will tell, unfortunately. shrugs

When I place an order through a dealer, is the dealer willing to sign off on a purchase agreement?

I suppose another way to ask is if the dealer is ordering for themselves with the understanding a specific person will take the car, or are they ordering on my behalf (because I cannot order directly)?

Hey there @michaelc, happy Saturday! Welcome to the forum.

So, those two questions are effectively the same thing. You cannot order a vehicle directly from the manufacturer so you have to order through a dealership. They SHOULD place an order for you for the car you want. Some dealers don't do that. They take your information and just put you on a list and order whatever they want for inventory and then notify you when vehicles are coming in to see if something matches.

I place orders for guests for what they want.

Waiting impatiently for that order window to open up so I can plan the next step.
Me too! LOL

I have checked a half dozen times today already.

Hi MurlinatoR.

Thanks for the response. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that 'orders' are not really orders - it seems nobody is obligated to follow through.

I'm in NYC. Where are you in Iowa? I suppose I could stock up on pork sandwiches for the drive back.

Hahahahahahaha!!!

Hi @michaelc, happy Monday!

Unfortunately in life, people are only obligated by their conscience. shrugs

I'm in central Iowa, Hiawatha to be exact. If you'd like to discuss more options, please feel free to message me and I'll break it all down for you as you could make the trip to get it and take it home or I can arrange shipping to your home once it has arrived.

How do I contact you to place an order?

Hey @RQQ, happy Friday and welcome to the forum!

Was that question directed toward Cataract2 or to me?
How do I contact you to place an order?
You would want to talk with @MurlinatoR
I'm also interested in placing a reservation. @MurlinatoR - should I reach out to you?

I'm interested in reserving a GT - from perusing the forum it doesn't seem like it will be available until late '22/early '23 though, right? @MurlinatoR

Hey @allies, happy Monday and welcome to the forum!!!!

Yes, you are correct. I expect the very first NON-FE's to start showing up around June-ish but that is all dependant on how soon they start distributing vehicles to dealers. I would currently expect an order to arrive in the Q4 time frame.

MurlinatoR
@MurlinatoR how does someone get in contact with you to pre-order?
