Kia UK has updated their website with a page dedicated to the 'new Kia EV' that will arrive Summer 2021. On the page is a teaser image, outline of the E-GMP platform it will ride on and some core specs. It's believed to be a production version the long rumored 'CV'. Chances are the official name will take from the EV1-9 naming scheme (more on that here).

Launching Summer 2021

A revolutionary new Kia electric vehicle is to be unveiled that’s set to define the next generation of electric car driving.

The new Kia is a fully electric family sports coupé, built using state of the art technology that’s our cleanest, most dynamic and most energetic car to date.

It’s the first Kia to use the Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). E-GMP is the culmination of years of research and development and brings together our most cutting-edge technologies.

  • 300+ mile range
The E-GMP allows for over 300 miles of continuous driving.
  • Charge in 18 minutes
A charging time from 10-80% in just 18 minutes.
  • 0-60 in 3.5 seconds
Efficient acceleration allows you to go from 0-60 mph in just 3.5 seconds.

E-GMP is engineered to offer improved cornering performance and driving stability at high speed. This is due to optimal weight distribution between front and rear, a design that enables a low centre of gravity thanks to its low-mounted battery pack. The adoption of electric motors located in the space previously occupied by an engine means there's additional capacity not found in your typical sports coupé.

It’s designed with the customer in mind, so we’ve thought carefully about the long term running costs too. With its new modular build system, it’s much easier and quicker to get serviced, giving you peace of mind in addition to our 7 year warranty.
