Review of the Lectron Tesla to J1772 EV charging adapter that lets you charge your non-Tesla EV at Tesla charging stations, like Tesla Destination EV Chargers you might find at hotels and shopping centers. While the Lectron Tesla to J1772 EV charging adapter works, it does require extra steps with E-GMP vehicles like my Kia EV6. This makes is less than ideal, especially if you plan to utilize Tesla charging stations fairly often. However, if you won't be charging your non-Tesla EV at Tesla charging stations often, it is a less expensive alternative to the Tesla Tap Mini 60 I reviewed previously that simply works.

Anyway figured I'd share! 😃

Question reg. the bypass procedure: you pushed the Power-On Button to 'start' the car. Did you hit the brake as if you were getting ready to drive away or did you just push the Power-On button to start the accessories, i.e. w/o hitting the brake?
Expiring minds want to know since I have an adapter sim. to the Lectron coming.

I “start” the car with my foot on the brake. Of course the car won’t actually start since it’s charging so it’ll go into IG-On. I keep the door open so I can hear the “charging started” notice before turning off the car.

Tried out the new (to me) HUUPRO J1772 to Tesla adapter today. Just like in Jeff's video, the car would throw a fault 'Charging unsuccessful' first.
Trying to 'Start' the car didn't change its mind but sending a 'Start Charging' command via the app led to success. The Tesla Destination Charger did provide a steady 11.3kW.
The HUUPRO-adapter is a little bit less expensive than the Lectron brand and looks every bit as sturdy. It is just another 'club in the bag' in case one gets stuck in 'Tiger Country' and can only reach a Tesla charger.

A heads up on the Lectron adapter. Just got back from a 2,000 mile road trip with my 3-month old EV-6. I bought the Lectron adapter since both the hotel and house we rented had Tesla destination chargers. The Lectron adapter did not work at either Tesla charger. As in not at all. Never heard “Charging Unsuccessful,” start charge commands from the phone yielded a response that the car was not plugged in. Ended up having a Tesla Tap Mini delivered to the house we rented. Worked like a charm both at the house and the hotel in the way back. Returned the Lectron adapter as soon as we got back.
