What exactly do you mean by "can't get navigation to work"--do you mean the map doesn't display and/or track your vehicle's location whatsoever, or you mean it won't let you select a waypoint/destination?
I had the same problem when my subscription expired a month ago. To fix this don't hit the Reconfigure button, instead select the don't show this message again option and then select the other button (I think I remember it being labeled Cancel, but I could be wrong). This will make that annoying popup go away and you can use the Nav normally.

Yeah. Just dismiss it. I’ve had that pop up every time I update the system for the past year even though we had the free trial. I just click Dismiss or Cancel (and Do not show message again)
To make sure I'm understanding this, there's an additional level of navigation offered besides the system when you buy the car, for which Kia is charging? Or are we talking about Kia Connect? I was eventually going to switch to a Kia from my Hyundai but if they are charging for navigation... I hated that with the new Toyota I had for a week.

They're not charging for navigation (you'll still have the maps and route guidance). Kia Connect brings additional functionality to the navigation such as cloud-based voice search for destinations (addresses/POI) and connected route guidance (for EV route planning). Voice recognition is also expanded with a Kia Connect subscription to include commands such as turning on/off heated or ventilated seats, opening the power tailgate, open/close the charge door etc.

its pretty ridiculous, because apparently the kia connect premium subscription is required to search for normal destinations using voice command. for example, while driving, normally you hit the voice button and say "navigate to XYZ city". Not without a Kia Connect data plan, i've learned. The map data is stored locally in the car. But the ability to use voice commands to search for a location is not. If you want to change your route while driving, or start one, you have to literally pull over, stop the car, put it in park, and manually type the destination in. This will be the last Kia i ever buy, that's for sure. I bought a navigation system, and it was advertised as including voice control. It's utter BS.
Obviously you don’t have the May update as that allows the passenger to access the nav while in Drive.

Yeah the voice recognition is gimped without Kia Connect but it sorta works… just have to go back to old school instructions. We would know, because Canada didn’t get cloud search until the Oct 2022 update.
Except for route planning for battery pre condition which does not require a subscription why worry when apple, google or Waze can be used with voice. The Kia Voice Recognition is one of the worst I have dealt with. Never able to hear the the information, or worst just gives you the wrong information. The worst one was told it to turn on cooling seats and it raised the volume to to the radio.. Go Figure. Bottom line, I let my subscription lapsed and have not missed it and use car play instead..
I did run in a situation recently while using kia navigation where I needed to change route, so just ended up using Apple Maps with voice, no issues there.. My only complaint using Apple Maps the voice is always yelling at me saying things like you idiot you just missed the cutoff I gave you, are you driving with your eyes closed, can't you follow directions. Gets annoying
