Does anyone know why I am getting this message over the past days that I have been trying to update my EV^?

When I look at the contents on the drive, it clearly shows 2022 EV6, but it also shows those ECOKMC files. 🤷‍♂️
I have those files on my removable drive as well and it installed okay for me.

EDIT: The system might not be letting you update since you previously installed the May 2023 update a few weeks ago. I know the build date changed but it's likely they didn't increment all software version numbers since they just made the update available again. As in, they did not release a 100% brand new update.

Hey everyone someone had mentioned that with the new update that was just re-released (V010.002) Kia removed the option to bypass the block on typing on the infotainment system when you're driving. That's not actually the case as you can see I still can bypass it. Just wanted to make you guys aware 😀

Kinda frustrating...
If you hit the home button, you should get the option to download as guest. But if it's anything like me and some others, the car may not like the version you get.

I was able to install the update of the update. It did not fix the issue with older CarPlay WiFi devices. New devices do work ok. So what did the update update?

Thanks, that was it. I saw references to logging in as guest in previous posts...but since I didn't get an invalid creds error I didn't clue in.

Still not there yet...I have the same files as listed above but now get a couple error messages

I've previously (August 22) performed an update using this usb with this sd card (exFAT). Maybe something else has changed regarding the usb requirements

Tried to get it done during lunch...guess not :) gotta dig a bit more later

Yeah, in the Facebook groups there are several people who get the same incompatible update file that I'm getting, and someone else who's car is saying it doesn't recognize the USB drive. This particular update just seems fussy. I'm going to wait and try again when I don't have to download as guest.

:) Wasn't this the "fix" for the last rollout...gotta fix the fix I suppose

Wasn't that the same prompt you showed in your earlier video a few weeks ago? If not, what changed other than the wording on that popup message.

It seems like your software is over a year old (from May 2022). I wonder if the new software is not liking the major difference in versions. It would be poor coding but installing updates sequentially instead of making one big jump might work better. Provided you can still find those update files for the late 2022/early 2023 update.

FWIW, in my case, with the incompatible update file message, I had already updated to the previous spring file from earlier in the month before they took it down. I got the impression that was also the case with some of the other people reporting the same issue on FB. But I also know that @TechnicallyJeff did the early May update, and had no issue running the 2nd update, so I don't really understand what's going on. Other than Kia being Kia. 🤷‍♂️

I didn't post any video's.

My last update was in August 22 (unless I borked something up and didn't know). I may try the sequential update method. I think I just let the update application choose the version i.e. I didn't explicitly select any download version. I assume they're out there somewhere.

thx

Yeah I did both with no issue. That's weird.
Just a small update... this morning I was able to log into the update software as myself (rather than guest). I re-downloaded the updates, tried to update, but still got the "incompatible with your vehicle" error when trying to install it. Interestingly, the download did result in an additional "navi_backup.tar" on the USB drive, previously it only went up to 7:

Interesting. I’ll give it a try, too.

I had a message in to Mapnsoft already yesterday and they suggested deleting the “system_pkg…” and “extra_pkg…” files from the drive and re-trying.

That only resulted in a banner saying “No supported files” after plugging in the USB and the update button prompted me to insert a drive containing update files.

Seems like they really don’t have any kind of runbook yet for this troubleshooting issue.
Another small update... the incrementing backup files made me wonder if some temporary files were being left behind by the downloader (even though I always click the option to delete temp files and close). So I uninstalled the updater software from my PC, re-downloaded it, re-installed it, and re-ran the file download. This time my nav_backup files only went up to 6. I was hopeful! Then my car gave me the same incompatible message.

EDIT: I'm stupid. The navi backup files still went up to 8. This time for some reason 7 & 8 were at the bottom of the list instead of in sequence with 1-6. 🤦‍♂️

So odd. I had no issues updating and I installed the original May update. And I verified I have the exact same files you have shown.

Maybe that's why the 1st May update was taken down. Maybe in some cases it resulted in the verification of future updates being flawed. I know several of the people who are hitting this issue had already applied the 1st May update, but I'm not sure if I've seen seen anyone have this issue coming from an older version. I guess one thing I haven't tried is applying an infotainment reset before attempting the update. But at this point, I'm running out of interest. 😏

I have the update running now! Should know in a bit if it completes successfully or not... but here's how I got there with some troubleshooting with Mapnsoft:

They first asked me to remove these two files from the USB drive and save them off somewhere else:

- system_package_ECOKMC.USA.0000.V909.010.230517.102759.tar
- extra_package_ECOKMC.USA.0000.V909.010.230517.102759.tar

After doing so and inserting the USB, I got a banner stating "no supported files" and it didn't detect any available upgrade.

Mapnsoft then asked me to change these file names:

system_pkg_ECOKMC.USA.1000.V010.002.230517.191950.tar >>> system_package_ECOKMC.USA.1000.V010.002.230517.191950.tar

extra_pkg_ECOKMC.USA.1000.V010.002.230517.191950.tar >>> extra_package_ECOKMC.USA.1000.V010.002.230517.191950.tar

Your USB contents should now look like this:

I plugged this in and it asked me if I wanted to upgrade now or later and I kicked it off.

We'll see how it goes!

So it requires removing two files and renaming two other files?

What did you do with the removed files? Are they used for anything?
