Operation of FOB for remote start

Those are two difference use case scenarios. If I'm in range of the car, I can pull out the FOB, hit lock, then press the hold button for a few seconds, and it's started. I sometimes do that if I'm already walking to my car and want to allow the HVAC to get started while I'm still walking. Get in the car, it's already started, drive off. Another reason might be starting the car to remotely back it out of a space (can't do that with the app). With the app, I pull out my phone, open up the app, press/hold the climate button, wait ~15 seconds to see if I get a command successful or unsuccessful message, and if the latter, keep futzing around to see if the app decides to work. This ONLY starts the climate (if it does work). Needless to say, between this process taking longer, requiring more steps, and being less reliable, this is something I only do if I'm not in range of the car.
and I found another use case yesterday. I had to leave very early to drive to train station. It was cold (well CA cold at 40 degrees). I opened the app to start remote climate. The app could not connect to the server. Tried multiple times. Thought immeadiately of this thread, but ended up just going to the car without remote starting it. At 40 degrees the heater does a good job as well as using seat and steering wheel heating
