I’m new to EV (and not got it yet) so I’m sure the next question falls under “don’t be daft, there’s no fixed answer” but….

just wondering if there are any examples of real world economy/range for the GT yet?

I’ve seen one YouTube video where the reviewer was returning about 2.6 - 2.7 miles per KWh - ie about 200 miles on a full charge; significantly less than the quoted (which I realise is somewhat artificial, but the same time forms the basis of the sales pitch)
And to be fair, not a long term owner.

I’m wondering whether the different driving modes will make a material difference (eg is eco 2 wheel drive?)

Official EPA is 206mi. Real world, I keep hearing people say 30-40kWh/100mi, depending on how you drive it, so maybe a hair more real world if you keep your foot out of it. Also, it's using horrible tires, so putting something good on like Michelin PS All Season 4's which are EV compatible may help over the Goodyear F1 rubbish.

In the UK, the GT is supposed to be arriving with Michelin Pilot 4S tyres. Which are great performance tyres in terms of grip (I have them on my current Tesla M3P).
Yeah, here in America we get the F1 trash. That said, 4S is not the same as All Season 4. Different tire. The 4S is much more skewed to summer performance.

I am getting around 200 to 225 miles with the GT S AWD model.

I read on here were people get into the 4 Per KW miles but I am seeing 3 to 3.5 tops and that's driving carefully in Eco.

I ordered my car on the basis the U.K. website said something like 256 miles range :-(
I was also told that from dealer when I ordered but I hear 180/190 miles real world is probably the best you'll get and its not even Winter yet. I expect lower than that when the first cars are here due to the colder conditions.
Pretty disappointing tbh and having real doubts whether to go ahead with it now. Kia really should have put a bigger battery in the GT.

I only get around 200 miles out of my Model 3 Performance. If I can get that out of my GT I'll be happy.

Worst I’ve seen @ 100% WOC is 180 miles vs. best @ 219 miles. I’ve been driving in ECO with Level 3 regen. I recently learned from @Lamrith that Level 4 regen, aka iPedal, engages AWD, whilst ECO only engages RWD. I have to think that, even so, Level 4 should mostly if not fully offset the additional energy needed to drive the front wheels but as yet have no data to support. Tbf, I’ve yet to drive the car to below 70% charge without recharging to full.

The GT would be a perfect car if its real range were +100 miles. I do worry about cratering resale value when KIA releases the follow-on version to this high performance variant, with longer range.

Side note re: “You’re not supposed to charge passed 80%” — when the car already has what feels like low range at 100%, how TF am I supposed to only do with 80% to start?! So far my M.O. has and will continue to be to charge to 100% but welcome others’ feedback on this as this is my first EV. 🙏🏼

If you need 200mi per day range, you shoild have bought different ev instead of charging 100% all the time. Or maybe youll dump it in 2 years and not care. Ymmv

Super helpful. Perhaps you also have another irrelevant comparison to make between your frumpy Volvo C40 and this hypothetical GT that you don’t have? waiting with baited breath

You asked for feedback. You got it.

Exhibit A: You in your car with nearly 500 miles on it and the plastic still all over it to "keep it nice":
Car Vehicle Cloud Sky Motor vehicle

Exhibit B: You charging your battery to 100% and getting offended when someone tells you this is not the best/maybe a different EV would be better if you cannot maintain this one to your previously depicted standards. 100% charge is literally the worst thing you can do to the battery except once a month or so, per Kia's directions. Yet you INSIST on it. You always do it. So I am forced to presume that this EV does NOT have adequate range for you, because noone who spends $75k on a car and has any sense would purposefully treat it this way unless it were necessary...hence my suggestion that maybe this one isn't a good fit? It's like a guy towing a big boat with a Miata. He may love that Miata, but this is not for its good, lol!

As to my GT, it's not my fault Kia keeps delaying delivery, lol!

its to reduce battery degredation over time, if youre planning a long trip and so need the full 200miles then charging to 100% is fine, but if most of your daily journeys are short, then you may prolong the life of your battery by sticking with the 80%

Love the screenshot, a bit creepy tbh, but funny that you took the time to stalk my Instagram in order to try to make a shallow dig “come back.” Do let us know when you FINALLY have this mythical, and apparently u̶n̶o̶b̶t̶a̶i̶n̶i̶u̶m̶ unobtainable GT (an excuse which doesn’t hold any water considering you can literally walk into any dealer and buy one at MSRP at this point) you’re planning to collect at sometime in 2024, or beyond (but probably never) and share photos of your green brake deletes and all of the other s̶p̶e̶c̶i̶a̶l̶ boring, unimaginative things you’ve planned for it, “Mr. Me Too.”

You you will never get data to back it up. There is no such thing as perpetual motion, people have tried for centuries and it is not possible. You will not get all your energy back from forcing both motors to run, not even 1/2 at best with efficiency loses. The GT has bigger motors front and rear than the GTLine as well, forcing both to spin at all times is going to hurt range.

Unless you are driving super slow, block to block traffic lights, staying out of Ipedal and in normal or ECO will be a big boost in range. I love Ipedal, but if you spend any time at "even speed" for more than a minute or two like on a backroad or highway, then regen 0-3 with eco/normal modes is more efficient. I drive around in 3 then hit ipedal when coming to a stop to get max regen possible, then right back to 3 before I start moving again. Stopping in ipedal will make car hold until you hit accel pedal btw, even if you switch to 3 after stopping completely.

You seem fixated on more range, what is your normal daily driving range, how much % are you using from your GT daily? If it is anything less than 150mi or 75% then you can easily charge to 80% or even 85% and have all the range you need without abusing the battery to 100% daily. If you really need 200mi daily, I unfortunately have to agree, the GT trim is not the best choice for you a GTLine AWD would have been better, or the vile T word.

@Unobtanium, aka,”the 🥜 gallery,” aka “Mr. Me Too,” do take notes on how to provide insightful and polite responses to peoples’ questions, rather than trying to condescend when you know nothing Jon Snow about the car because you don’t have one.
TBH you started things with your comment about his C40 when he never mentioned it here.

He made an honest statement that the GT might not be best choice for you given your concerns about range as did I, and you attacked him and continue to do so after he stopped replying.

He's not wrong, buying an EV when you need it's max range daily is not the best choice as many variables can take that range away and leave you stranded.
