If you read the post by others one shop did loosen the 4 bolts and adjusted it and got on the phone with Kia tech line for more advice. The body shop manager at my dealer would not touch it and stated "it is a mass produced car not a Bentley". I really do not trust them to do anything now. I complained to Kua Premier Customer service and they are contacting EDC to initiate a buyback. Would you be happy if yours looked like that, I am not and also the dealers response.
I doubt Kia will buy back the car over a minor flaw that does not impact the operation of the rear hatch. I’m sure there will be a fix for this issue. The car is relatively new and service departments are still learning about the car.

That is all I really want is to have them fix it but as I said the body shop manager already stated no as well as the service advisor. Will he and the service advisor change their tunes. Body shop manager already said let customer live with it.

Certainly hoping this is the case. I have a similar misalignment with the hatch on the right side where it is slightly proud. It can also be seen from the side where the hatch protrudes beyond the profile of the charging door. Similar scenario, where the service manager is unfamiliar with the case and looking to help from Kia.

Having gone to the dealership several times, I’ve been looking at the other new EV6s on the lot. So far, about 3 of 5 (including mine) have the misaligned hatch on the right side, albeit very slight. Have noticed it on an EV6 in a YouTube channel as well.

Just wondering if both GT line and Wind have it. Questioning because if it is where hinges attach to roof causing the misalignment as they both have a different roofs.

Before you get too excited, the Chevy Bolt would like to have a word. Also, every diesel VW
With the Chevy Bolt there are 3 choices 1. Buyback using your states lemon law. 2. MSRP swap to a different vehicle, ice or a Bolt with replaced battery. 3. Wait on a new battery but for 20-22 could be a few years. All 140,000 Bolts.

I have a similar but less extreme misalignment problem and am waiting for Kia to come up with a solution. The left side of the tailgate rubs the black lighting trim but only very slightly and only some of the time when parked on my uneven drive. The problem appears to be related to the fixings for the hinges at the top of the tailgate. With the tailgate closed you can clearly see that the top of the tailgate on the righthand side is a few millimetres lower than on the left.
Mine is same way, hatch alignment off on passenger side and hatch liwer then roof on that side also

I saw a post in the UK EV6 owners group where someone pointed out the "stoppers" on the hatch are adjustable and completely correct for slightly mis-aligned hatches. Might want to give that a shot. 5 minutes with a screwdriver might fix the issue. Oh, and if it works, be sure to take the extra time to a) yell at the dealership that couldn't be bothered to do something so simple, and b) yell at Kia for not training their dealerships ;)

Been tried by the service manager and at a dirrerent dealership who sent me to an independent shop, did not fix it. Body shop fells something off in the hinge area, gonna laser the specs. My selling dealer body shop manager refused to fix it or call Kia tech line, he said to service manager tell the customer this is a mass produced car not a Bentley. Selling dealer had no problem collecting msrp addon but atrocious service.

Thanks for sharing that. They'd already looked at those adjustments on mine - one is already wound all the way out - and it doesn't get to the root of the problem, though it would help correct minor closure misalignments. It was worth a try for sure :)

After sitting in the independent body shop 4 days that the other dealer sent it to. My original dealer would not address it. Here is the fix, what do you think, it is better then it was but I am still not satisfied with passenger side where the chrome trim meet.
trim meet.

Definitely better, I suppose after a while it becomes like a stain in the carpet and invisible. I do wonder how it compares to other instances fresh off the showroom floor?

Also, there are rubber bumper adjusters for the tailgate closure (in the tailgate itself) that may change that gap on a closed tailgate - have you had a chance to look at those? Maybe it can get closer on the RHS?

Mine isn't due to get looked at until June 15... in the meantime, I don't open the tailgate on uneven slopes!

Thanks for the update :)

Robert,
The bumpers will not fix it, was tried. I think the problem is a weakness flex in the frame that causes some to go off spec during constrution before hatch is put on. Yours will show it if they fully inspect it. When yours is at dealer hopefully someone from Kia will be there and open it at uneven so it does it like it did for you. If yours does it they all will. I am tempted to open mine on uneven road to see.

Fair enough - was a faint hope they'd overlooked it!

My issue is super-easy to replicate (and the out-of-alignment is shockingly obvious), plus I've given them my video of it hitting when closing (and then refusing to close) when parked with one rear wheel on a curb. I'll make sure that this is put forward when I drop it off. The foreman/chief mechanic at my dealer has asked for me to hunt him down when I drop it off. I'll report back here in a couple of weeks...

Still don't think this is good enough for an expensive flagship car - you'd think Kia would be all over this. (No complaints about my dealer - they are shocked and believe I should not put up with a brand new vehicle in this state)

Much better than before, hardly noticeable. Try to live with and enjoy the positives. My 2 cents.
Yeh I agree. All car manufacturers have panel alignment issues. Tesla were terrible initially and still have some problems. That is pretty good most ppl will not notice. As long as it doesn't affect trunk function.

Looks like the light was fitted to high compared to the side light.

Thanks guys! I've read/watched the message chain there, it looks somewhat different in terms of symptoms (my liftgate is slightly twisted rather than sliding left-right), could be the same structural cause though. Will inspect the hinges and the rubber stoppers further, not sure if I want to do the curb test yet :)
Mine is also twisted on passenger side, body shop had it 4 days and could not correct it. Seems there are a few out like this, my selling dealer got a white one in same way. I believe it is a structural or assembly problem. It might look minor to some but it bothers me.
