Tesla Magic Dock, we (EV6 users) won’t be using it

Looking at the reports while they work seamlessly, the extremely short magic dock cable means that we and Mach E owners won’t be charging according at least according to normal Tesla parking etiquette.

Yay for choices that actually work! Nay for getting your car keyed because you “BEV’d” a Tesla spot. Maybe v4 will fix it but I would doubt it. Perhaps this was Musk’s plan, open ‘‘em on paper, grab the subsidy bounty and let the war begin.

Would love to see a few available in WV for my trips up North and along NC/SC Coast.
If even they retrofit only half -- as long as it's half the pods at each location then I'd be happy. I would likely only use Tesla SC as a backup if a non-Tesla charger wasn't close enough or is out of service.
Much better to convert an entire station over instead of only a few stansions. It will be impossible to manage and get a magic dock station on busy days when there is a line to charge, and you can only use 2-3-4 out of 10+ chargers at a location. logistics will be a pita. Better they convert an entire location and do it in places were there is a lack of CCS to make hops.

That would be nice, what they did so far on the stations they installed magic docks is that they installed it to each stall. Granted these are installed for testing, might change later.
Gen 4 superchargers are coming with much longer cables
Keep in mind that Tesla will probably will do the absolute minimum needed to qualify for the gov't money. That is all their care about. It is not in their interest to make a lot of Tesla chargers usable to non-Tesla vehicles, specially if non-Tesla will have to take up 2 spots to charge their cars. I am sure Tesla wants to keep their customers happy and allowing busy Superchargers to be more crowded by CSS vehicle will piss off their customers.

They should install longer hoses and most of their chargers are not crazy busy through most of the country. They should also make up the cost of the longer hoses by charging non teslas a little more to charge. I would gladly pay a little more to have access to their network.

Yes, they should pay the cost of retro-fitting cables if they wanted to help non-Teslas.
CCS customers will be paying approx. $0.49/kw which is not cheap at all. Teslas pay approx. $0.39/kw depending on the location.

They are repainting the parking lines to place the chargers in center, that should help. Gen 4 chargers will be taller and the cable longer, adding longer cables to existing chargers could be challenging because there is not enough room to store the cable. The way they are constructed, the cable does not sit on the ground but sits inside the charger when not used, it is a pretty elegant solution IMO, they don't risk the cables to be runned over and damaged.

Yes the repaint makes it so the existing cables and Magicdock adapters will reach for the EV6.

V4 Cables are much longer. Should have no issues supporting all types of EVs.

Interesting tidbit at the end of the video. Hyundai is working with Tesla WRT the V3 Magic Docks and apparently it's a software issue on Tesla's end (guessing just the way the amps is dispensed??). Anyway, this manager of Eletrified Management Systems stated that an update will come Q2 of this year so maybe we'll see increased charging speeds this summer on our cars.

Thanks for the video! Hope the change comes soon.
