I searched and did not find the actual info I am after so I wanted to see if anyone could help. My car will be here Friday and the whole deal was very quick so I was wondering if maybe he got an early production trade from another dealer. I am not sure of the problems early production cars had but I have heard a few comments. I know the Mach e people who got job 1 are still waiting for some important upgrades. So my question is, will the vin tell me the month of when ev6 was made? The approx date of manufacture is on the bottom of window sticker on mach e but I did not see it on my window sticker for the ev6. if anyone can give me info regarding not only the date of manufacture but also what problems if any were on the early models and if those problems were corrected, I would really appreciate it. thanks

Date of manufacture will be on the car itself (in the door jamb), for sure. It's not really something you can get from the VIN from public resources, but you can more or less get a ballpark based on the last 6 digits, which is a sequential serial number basically, so earlier productions will have lower numbers, later will have bigger numbers.

Unfortunately production date is not something that's required on the Monroney label (window sticker), at least not yet. The only issues/fixes I've seen so far are software related (a couple of TSBs, and a recall for the parking pawl) and addressed via a dealer update.

The EV6's are not manufactured in VIN number order. The only way you will be able to tell the date is on the label on the driver door jamb. (Kia said in the recent recall the VIN numbers are not manufactured in order).

The VIN decoder submitted to NHTSA specifically calls out the last group of numbers as a sequence number though, which leads me to believe that they are VIN'd in some sort of sequence at least within some bound or in other terms a VIN ending in 504260 would have been produced earlier than a VIN ending in 516280, but maybe VIN 516280 may have been completed shortly after 516290. Maybe they're just spec'd in sequence but queued for manufacturing in similar batches though? Or maybe the sequence reference on the decoder was another mistake from Kia like the earlier decoder they submitted. ¯\(ツ)

I do agree that regardless this isn't enough information do deduce a specific production date though, maybe at best a general "VINs in X range all seem to have a production date of approximately from Y to Z".

Hello According to my experience, You will be able to learn the month and year of manufacture from the VIN. The vehicle's model year is represented by the tenth digit of the VIN, and the plant where the vehicle was manufactured is represented by the eleventh character. The specific production number can be identified using the remaining digits. When it comes to issues with early production models, it's always a good idea to do some research on automotive forums or talk to the manufacturer to find out if any problems were reported and whether they were fixed in later production runs. I hope that helps. Good luck.
