Thanks for sharing, dod you talk with the insurance company?
Its all processing.. not sure what they will do, I think there is a good chance it is totaled unfortunately (Kia thinks so too).. 36k for repairs? What is this car worth as is for parts/salvage? Not sure the numbers will add up to being worth fixing which is a total F***ing bummer.. Although sounds like it may take a really long time to get the battery so maybe better in the end?? But what to buy, we lucked into this and hard to find anything right now.. Trying to look on the bright side, no one was hurt and its just a car..

It depends on your state, but typically it will be declared a total loss if repairs exceed 70 or 80% of the vehicle's value. That would probably be the best outcome, and there are EV6's for sale (especially if you're willing to ship one).

I would also look into "diminished value" claims, especially if they determine it wasn't the driver's fault, the insurance may owe you not only for the repair cost but the lost value. (That would also increase the likelihood of getting it totaled).

There are plenty of 2023 ID.4s on the lot. And those are eligible for tax credits... but otherwise get your name on various EV waitlists.

Sorry for your loss. Hopefully Kia realizes they need to beef up the undercarriage.

The physics of striking road debris, especially metal objects are quite significant. A Vehicle traveling 60-70 mph hitting a metal object IS the story of between a rock and a hard place. The road surface does "give" but not much.

I did $6,000 damage to a crown Vic patrol unit striking a chunk of metal pipe on the highway.
Been there, done that--back in the day I accidentally drove over a metal object in my ICE vehicle--it was nighttime, I was driving on the freeway in somewhat-moderate traffic, thus I didn't see the object in time to try to avoid running over it. Long story short, it punctured the oil pan; thankfully that's all that got damaged.

Wow...don't understand why a 77khw battery is $31k. That means, Kia is charging you $400/kwh. Tesla charges about $10-15k for a 82kwh battery which is between $120-180/kwh. What is going on?
Model 3 packs are $17.5K (plus they keep the old pack)

Bolt is $18K from a recent FB post. It is 65 kWh.

$17.5k is almost half the price of the Kia pack...and the Tesla pack is the same size or bigger. Crazy.

Anyone have personal experience with the ID.4 vs EV6?
Total bummer about the accident and battery damage. Hope the situation changes to a better outcome than you’ve got now.

We were out for a drive yesterday on the interstate, about 70 mph, when the cars in front of were hitting their brakes and swerving. I did as much as I could, but like the SUV in front of me, I couldn’t avoid the obstacle he hit. Fortunately, it was a soft sided cooler and it had been hit enough times there was only a little debris left in it.

Possibly won’t find too much ID.4 experience on this forum. However, there are a lot of YouTube videos, many complaining about horrible software. I was looking at the ID.4 for a very short while before buy the EV6. Maybe they have improved the software, but the looks/styling still aren’t to my liking.

Don't listen to me. I had a 2021 Pro RWD and hated it lol. I did order a 2022 Pro S Gradient AWD then declined that after a test drive in July. I was offered a 2023 ID.4 Pro S last weekend and decided to take a free test drive. Meh. It really needs a 360 camera and premium audio. Passed on it.

It's a practical mommy SUV and 2023 trims are eligible for the tax credit this year (half next year).

Thanks.. I have not really heard anything all that great about them.. but may test drive one for fun..

Anyone know if you can get 2 tax credits. We are eligible for one on the KIA as we bought early in the year, can we get another if we buy another EV?

Yes. I claimed three tax credits in 2021 (had a RAV4 Prime sneak in at the end of Dec) as long as you have tax liability. It gets iffy you have kids and plenty of other write offs.

All the reviews I read on them are pretty awful... especially when compared to the EV6.. bummer
The suspension is the best part of the ID.4 but it's only marginally better than an Ioniq 5 or EV6. I also hated the infotainment and the nonstop glitches.

Depending where you are... you can get an Ioniq 5 or EV6 at MSRP. I've been offered Ioniq 5 SEL AWDs in Florida at MSRP. And a few RWD EV6s have popped up too.

Oh.. think about the GV60 Performance at MSRP. Genesis Milford and Genesis of Fairfield have 10 each in the CT area.
