What's Your #1 Complaint About Your EV6? | Page 8 | Kia EV Forum

I’m noticing this a bunch recently as it’s getting darker… it’s so irritating that the lights turn off so quickly when the trunk is open still. I don’t really understand the logic. I looked through settings to see if I could change it but came up empty.

First and foremost, I love my EV6.
Now that we have a second EV, wife’s new ID4, there are some glaring issues with the EV6.

The crappy headlights are at the top of the list.
Not being able to have the dash dark and the Nav light.
Not having a lighted charging port.
Not having lighted door handles.
Not being able to adjust the lumbar up and down.
Delicate and sparse paint.
Charging on level 2 AC is not as clean as the ID4.

It also needs:
To be able to customize the dash so you can put the speed in the lower center.
Dog mode (the other car needs this as well)

This branched a bit far from “one” but with some very doable changes, KIA could have a great car instead of a good car.

#1 night time complaint is the headlights. Granted, I was coming from a Cayenne with excellent headlights, but the ones in the EV6 are considerably worse than I would have expected.

#1 overall complaint is the non-centered speed on the screen in front of the wheel. That left position gets it obscured by the steering wheel.

In settings, you can have the speed limit and speed travelling at, on screen in centre of dash, with mapping, I find it easier over there to be truthful.

He meant that the speed is not the center of the front-facing screen (it's in a less visible corner partially obscured by the steering wheel).

Sometimes on forums like this you'll see posts along the lines of "I love my EV6, but..." and then share something that bothers the OP. For those who've owned their EV6s for some time now and have have positive experiences, is there something that bothers you about your EV6? It could be a big thing or a nit pick.
It’s easily the 12V battery failures. And Kia’s refusal to acknowledge that their are a combination of reasons causing a fully charged electric car to be dark and requiring a jump start to a 12V battery , and their instructions to dealerships to essentially stonewall a replacement battery. Ridiculous.

I came from a Prius Prime and I also thought the headlights were a downgrade. It's the "halogen lights" of the LED world.

Correct, that's exactly the point I'm making. I don't need to see a car animation. I'd much prefer seeing the speed in the middle. So much wasted space on that dashboard display. I get they want to make it pretty, but not at the expense of genuine functionality.

Electrical Glitches: Dealer has no idea; Dealer support does not return Service Dept’s calls!

Like in a number of other posts in EV Issues and Solutions, I get the Check EV System and Check AWD/FWD warnings. These seem to display at every vehicle start when the car is newly recharged and gradually taper off as the amount of charge goes down.

The Eugene, OR dealer had it for two days soon after purchase. Could not find a problem; told me that they had called Dealer Support and were waiting for a reply. I picked up the car and told them to call me when they had a possible solution. No call from them. A few weeks later, per Service, they still had head nothing. They had it again for the Integrated Charging Control Unit and Vehicle Control Unit service campaign ‘fixes”. NOPE.

Meanwhile, I did talk to Kia Customer Support and asked if this could be escalated to second level technical. Was told Kia will not do anything until the car has sat at the dealer lot for at least TEN DAYS!

To summarize:
  • Eugene Kia Dealer cannot find problem.
  • Dealer Support does not get back to dealer service dept.
  • Kia will do nothing unless I let it sit on the back lot for a couple of weeks.
I guess I will just put up with this irritation on what is otherwise, a good car. Sigh.

I was a bit surprised when I tried to pull back the windshield wipers. You know, straight out so I could more easily get to the pine needles and junk that accumulates in that channel between the windshield and the back of the hood. It feels like the wipers bend that way but they run into the hood. Or am I doing something wrong? I guess one is supposed to put the wipers vertical or something so the hinge in the wiper mount clears the channel.

No wireless CarPlay and doors do not auto lock when walking away.
I've never had a vehicle that does this. Do you have to have the key FOB on you as you walk away or it won't lock? I've always been in the habit of locking the car before I leave the parking lot and so you know you didn't leave the keys in the car.
