Wireless CarPlay and latest software update

I have an ottocast wireless airplay adapter.

It has been working fine up until yesterday when I installed the latest software release 230517.

Now the l adapter connects, then disconnects repeatedly. When airplay is on the screen, if I press the play button for music, it instantly disconnects and begins the process all over again.

Anyone else experiencing something similar with any wireless CarPlay adapter?

I'm using the Motorola MA1 adapter for wireless Android Auto (not sure if this helps you much since it's not CarPlay) and it's still working fine after installing the latest update two days ago.

Search is definitely the place to start as there are several threads regarding the May update that include posts by us that wireless CarPlay/Android Auto broke and what we did to fix it. There is one here and here. I searched for firmware with dates between May 1 and today. You may have to do some reading through lots of posts to find what you need.

That said, several of us using the CarLinKit v3 experienced similar behavior after the May update. Some didn’t. For me, @carlinkitbusiness pointed out I was 4 firmware updates behind. Once I completed all 4 it started working again. Since yours isn’t by CarLinKit, there’s no guarantees, so YMMV.

contactong support, hopefully I can get it working
I just took delivery of my 2023 EV6 Gt line, and the salesman told me that Kia is plannning a software update that will enable wireless CarPlay/Android. I took that with a grain of salt. I wonder if that is possible without hardware upgrades?

It’s probably possible for software only, but they’ll have to pay the price to include both. I’m pretty sure that’s why we don’t have wireless CarPlay at least.

Yes, I’m an  user, and I know I pay a premium for it. I also like what I get for that premium. I totally get there are “Apple-haters” everywhere, just like there are Tesla/Musk haters. It’s nothing more than a personal choice to which everyone is entitled.

I think Apple’s asking price for the licensing was too high for HMG to put in their first release EV’s for reasons we can only guess. Ford understands and is providing Wireless CarPlay/Android Auto for all their vehicles. I’ll never buy another car without CarPlay, so, no Chevy, Tesla, or Rivian. Again, it’s a choice.

And to be honest, I don’t mind the wired CarPlay or the CarLinKit dongle I use when I want wireless.

Maybe, maybe not. We have no idea. But I wouldn't count on it. HMG has been using this infotainment system for years and has never once hinted at wireless carplay or android auto for the wide-screen version. For whatever reason, HMG only allows wireless phone projection on their base infotainment.

It's always been salesmen hinting at it. But I've found most car salesmen will lie through their teeth and know less about the cars they sell when compared to a person who just looks at the compare trims page available on that manufacturer's website.

There is a issue with the usb cable, connectors need to be cleaned, have to remove the cover the usb sits in. Its not the usb female connector, its the ones behind the dash.
