Did the 2022's have similar build quality issues? It's usually the first year of a new model or refresh that has all the problems.

I read that the GT’s are still built in Korea - only the Wind and Light are built in Georgia. That’s why the GT gets hit with tariffs and also doesn’t qualify for the tax credit.

edit: but I guess that’s just the GT and not the GT-line, which is somehow two different things both for sale.

 

Yeah, if anyone can chime in on panel gap issues with 2022s, that would make for a good comparison.

 

Yes there was chassis and panels imperfection for first year of production. But nowhere close like some American EV brands.

 

I have a 2022 GT-L First Edition #509. 35K miles. All is even and tight. No issues except the 12 volt battery. One of the best vehicles I have ever owned.

Absolutely sure. Monroney said RWD on first line and in the description it said "single motor." I thought it was very strange to send that over to our hilly and windy Appalachian region. And the color was that awful Wolf Gray. I think it was another psychological test by Kia to see if this car would ever move off the lot in this configuration.

First lines of sticker say:
STANDARD GT-LINE RWD FEATURES MECHANICAL

Then you have to go to the other side of the sticker where it says:

Very strange way to write-up the Monroney. Listing the most base model features standard on all EV6 and then making the AWD (and other things) an upgraded listed option.

That's how the sticker on my Wind AWD is written.

You can look up any Monroney for inventory online at Kia.com. They are all like that.

 

Just test drove a 2025 the other day. Didn't notice any problem.

The new front end isn't as bad in person as in pictures, and there are a lot of incremental improvements.

Only a bit less than 17k miles on my 2024, so it'll probably be a refresh or two more before I'm in the market for a replacement: but Kia did a nice job overall.

They have those for EVs?

What are they testing for?

(here in the Midwest those aren't a thing even for ICE cars, but I remember getting the emissions testing back in Boston many years ago).

 

Here in New Jersey same way. ICE need inspection EV do not.

 

Def a thing in Virginia. Prettt simple for most EVs as they know the brakes are good usually. Pull a wheel to see a rotor, honk the horn, that's most of it.

They make a ton of money on repairs for ICE. We almost got it canceled (whole program) last year but guess who stepped in at the last minute with the Gov's office and whoops disappeared that bill. (Repair shop lobbyists)

 

In PA EVs still get an annual state inspection. Besides brakes low tread depth on tires can also fail the inspection.

 

PA has state inspections and emissions testing (the latter only in urban and suburban counties) for ICE and EV. Obviously EVs don't have to do the emissions testing, but they do need to do the inspection, otherwise you'll have the cars driving around with rusted panels hanging half off like they do in our neighboring state of Ohio.

Anyway, I've raced my GT a dozen times now at the track and STILL have 10/12 on the front brakes! The amount of reliance on regen braking on these cars is unreal.

 

As much as people rag on CA for its restrictive policies when it comes to vehicle emissions and whatnot, at least over here we don't have to deal with vehicle inspections in order to renew vehicle registration--just biennial smog inspections (ICE vehicles less than 8 model-years old and MY 1975 and older ICE vehicles are exempt).
