I recently had a powered subwoofer installed on my EV9 last week. The stock Meridian subwoofer is hot garbage and I was really looking for a solution that provided enough power without sacrificing cargo space. I ended up purchasing a JL Audio Microsub+ 8 (dimensions: 18-1/2"W x 11-1/8"H x 5-1/8"D) and I’ve been really happy with it. Don’t let the 8” subwoofer fool you, this thing can pound if you want it to. I keep it at the lowest setting. I purchased the powered sub on my own from Abt. The cost to install including labor and cables was $440. This is a great solution, but it wasn’t cheap. I could’ve gone with a different powered sub, but JL Audio ia the highest quality. Below are some pics with a couple ways you can position the box.

You’re a glass all empty kind of guy, I get it :). There is PLENTY of space with the third row down which is my daily config. That, and the sub/amplifier can easily be unplugged if I need space with 3rd row up which is why I went with one unit for everything. Damn, the lack of subwoofer on the stock system be making you 😡.

I also have an EV9 GT Line and I am also looking to install a sub and amp that accepts speaker-level-outs. The the only thing holding me back is: where is the 50A trailer hitch power (fuse or otherwise) that I could tap into? And is there a part or component that can do the tap "gently"? Finally, where is the existing sub speaker wire that I can tap into as input into my sub? Pictures would be great! Thanks, Your install looks great.

Hey trickyt,

This may not be close, but you reminded me of @theioniqguy’s installation guide for his great walkway lock module. Maybe something under here fits the bill.
