I just called Kia Australia and was told that the EV5 cross bars are still in design so won't be out for a while but they're going as fast as they can.

I was also told that the warranty is void if you use other cross bars eek!

One reputable cross bar company said they were hesitant to attach theirs to an EV5 as the rails were not strong enough and might crumble. Hmmmmmmm.

I think non heavy duty ones might be the go until the EV5 specific ones are available.

We just got both tow bar and roof racks for our EV5 Earth. Tow bar was by EV Stealth (ours was the first prototype prior to production), and the roof racks from Quality Roof Racks in Botany - Skybar V2. The tow bar has been fitted and looks good. Haven't tested yet. Roof racks are being delivered so haven't fitted them yet.

Were the roof racks for the Sportage? I don't see the EV5 listed yet as a model option for the Skybar V2.

It's not easy to find bars for the EV5 here either. I also thought of the Sportage as a reference, but without certainty about compatibility. I hesitate to take universal ones, but I'm afraid of noise or a bad fit. If someone finds a really compatible solution in Australia/NZ, I'm a taker too!

@jakstrachan, wondering if the Thule roof racks make much noise? I installed the Skybar V2s and get a bit of noise at higher speeds. Maybe it's just more noticeable in an EV that is so quiet compared to my previous ICE vehicles?

 

Hey Mark, I do get a bit of wind noise but only when the wind is coming from one direction. It's not noticeable if I have music or a podcast on at all so not bad at all. I also have a decent awning on as well so it could be that!

 

Does anyone know what specific parts would work on the EV5 from the Thule Wingbar Edge series rather than Evo?
