Anyone had any experience with FlexiShield Cosmetic PPF?
Its a dry apply wrap but is a real ppf with the self healing benefits. It seems like it will be a pretty good product but hasn't been out as long as Stek so it doesn't have enough of a track record to really know yet. I have decided to go for it on my Steel Matte Grey GT. Why? It chips too easily, and I wanted Yacht Blue but the Grey was a cancelled order that was available right away. I'm sure I'd still be waiting on blue. Also I'm concerned about trying to maintain the perfect matte finish for as long as I plan on keeping the car so I'm going to wrap it up and then enjoy it all over again years from now. And I just want something more colorful and unique. But I was amazed at the lack of good photos for some of the colors I was interested in, so I ended up rendering some myself via 3 modeling. These are kind of like what Herbo posted. maybe not as professional looking, but I tried to mimic some samples of the FlexiShield PPF line. I have been flipping between Green Apple and Chameleon, but I'm pretty sure at this point Green Apple will be the final decision. I will definitely post pics once its done. My appointment is for May 1. The uploaded pictures represent Green Apple, Chameleon, Galaxy, Iceberg and Acidic Lime.

Did you get samples from the manufacturer or the installer?

I should be getting bigger sample of Green Apple and Chameleon any day now to help me cement my decision. I'll throw a couple of pictures of those up too. It really hard to tell from the images on the site or the tiny samples in the sample book. But for the record, here's a before pic. View attachment 13740

Got samples today of Green Apple and Chameleon. Going with Green Apple, it's hard to catch the actual colors accurately, but it looks amazing. I noticed in overcast sunlight the gold reflections get lost by the camera, and overcast days will bring out a little blue in the paint layers that I didn't even know was in this color. On a sunny day that gold should shine through more. Waiting for one. The Chameleon is nice, but pretty std chameleon. I think the GA is a little more unique and subtle. Monday's the day. ETA end of the week.

The more I look at the sample the more I love the Green Apple. For being "green", it doesn't look like it actually has any green paint in it! It looks like the effect is from a gold metal flake base coat with layers of transparent blue tint over it. You get green from the mixing of the gold and blue. Which is awesome because I love stuff that plays with the light and blends and mixes colors. It makes it really hard for the camera to see the same thing your eye sees though, probably because the camera doesn't focus on the same layer as your eyes are. I tried to get a picture of just the blue topcoats so you can see what I mean. Its not the same real life but close enough. When you're looking at it its easier to see the blue is from top layers, but now for the camera the flakes have to bust through! In person the are practically hidden.

Progress update: No progress. Unless you count the car being moved from the front of the shop to the back of the shop progress. I used the remote snapshot to check in on the car. Now I think its actually inside the shop because I can't remote connect to it anymore. I did get a status update that they have had a couple of guys out sick this week and my car is first in line on Monday. That's great but I could have used the car this week instead of having it sitting around doing nothing, so that's frustrating. He also made a comment that he had forgotten how "finicky" FlexiShield can be. Oh boy. I hope I haven't made a huge mistake. This was the only shop in the area I found that even worked with FlexiShield so I was happy to find someone close to home. When I first mentioned it he seemed like it was no problem, so I'm still hoping he's able to remember the technique for this material. I know its not like regular vinyl or wet apply ppf. Fingers crossed. Hopefully it will be done by the end of the week.

I picked the car up yesterday. I am super happy with the result. The color variations are amazing, so is the gloss. The guys at Wrap Effects did a great job on this. Only time will tell how the product holds up, but the manufacturer warranty is 5 years for fading, peeling, cracking or discoloration, but that's based on outdoor living. Being a garage kept car I think I will get a lot longer life than that, and by taking good care of it.

A good example of how many variations of color you will see in this material depending on angle and light.

So happy to have it back home again!!!

A few more photos, cause why not? Uploading a walkaround video on YouTube now. I'll post the link soon. Its awesome to see the color shift in real time. The combo of colors in this - brown, gold, many shades of green and a touch of blue, makes me think of it as an organic metallic film.
