Kia Charge Pass messing EA charging?

I have a 2026 Wind. Tried to charge at EA for the first time today. I have owned other EVs and charged dozens of times at EA and others

I could not get EA to work. I know EA has its problems, but the error message is an interesting one as it mentioned Plug and Charge. I do believe that is not an option for EV9s right now. I started the charge via the EA app. My card in the app is up to date. I also am paying for the EA Pass Plus plan.

I do have KIA charge Pass active. I wonder if that is confusing the process. I also noticed later that I did not have my EV9 as one of my vehicles listed in the EA App. I don't think that should have matter, but who knows. Its interesting that EA does not have the 2026 mode year as an option, either.
Went across the street to a Tesla and it worked fine with the same credit card in the app. Just curious if anyone knows of an issue or a setup I missed. I will go back with the EV9 as one of my cars, even though its the wrong model year.

right, it shouldn't matter 'what' EV is using the station, only that the station is activated at the time you plug in... I use my Ford Pass App all the time to activate any type of station for our EV9 to use... it works flawlessly and doesn't know, or care, that it is a 'different' EV using the station - the app only activates it.

Since KIA and EA are not partnered yet for Plug-n-Charge, and is not part of KIA's Charge App locator, you must use your EA app to initiate the charge station - it should work just like any other vehicle, and especially if you want to use your 'free' EA charging KIA provides at the time of purchase....

but, EA could have been having a problem at that station, or location, with software or initiating ANY type of vehicle.... they are not the best at managing their locations.

These are my exact thoughts as well. I think EA was having issues processing payments at that moment.

I've had both a 2024 and 2026 EV9. The 2026 EV9 does have Plug and Charge functionality, but I don't really know how to actually use it. There's a toggle for it in the dashboard settings menu. If you have it turned on, it will cause an EA charge to fail with the same message you show as I also had that happen. When I turned that toggle off in the car's menu and unplugged/replugged in the EA charger, it worked fine. Since it sounds like you have the 2026 EV9, I would check for that menu option as it sounds like you have it enabled.

It appears that the EV9 has used the ccNC platform since the beginning (2024). There could be subtle hardware differences in more recent models (more memory, faster CPU) but the platform is the same and I can't imagine plug & charge uses much in the way of resources.

This may be a marketing decision or will just be released later for the 2024 model. We'll see... 🍿
