Waze needs to be open on your phone. Then the carplay connection process will pick up what is on the phone at that time. Its takes some button pushing to get it on there. I had issues with mine too.

Yes, you are correct. Only the USB-A port is a data/media port. All the other USB ports in the car are for charging only, not data transfer. Android Auto/Apple CarPlay would fall under the data transfer category.

You’re right, USB-A is what I meant. As far as USB-C not working for data transfer, perhaps that’s the case with the EV6, but it works just fine in my ‘22 Atlas. 🤷🏽‍♂️

 

I’ve been trying to figure out how to project Waze onto my infotainment screen. Apple CarPlay seems to be working because I’m able to listen to music which is playing from my phone and I can hear Waze’s directions/alerts through the car’s speakers, however, when I try to project my screen, Apple CarPlay is greyed out. USB-B is the connector shown below. Those are only used on large peripheral devices like printers. Perhaps you meant a standard USB-A to Lightning cable?

I'm cofused. Why aren't you just doing this wirelessly. And what USB-a port -- there are none in the EV9, only 6 USB-c ports. Did you mean to post in the EV6 forurm?

This is for the Sportage. Confirmed that for Apple Car Play (and Waze) can NOT connect wirelessly. Must connect with USB CORD

 

Unclear how this answers the questions. You can use Waze wirelessly on the EV9 and Waze has nothing to do with whether the car has USB-a ports.
