Any suggestions from those who have bought cross rails and ski/snowboard racks for their EV9? Notably, the GT-Line with raised gloss black roof rails.

I have, as I do for every car i have, bought roof rack/cross rails from Thule.

They have versions for both flush and raised rails.
I have the Wingbar edge model, wich I like because of the lower profile. It's hard enough to reach my roof box without added hight.
Don't know if they are available all around the world, but i think they are.

Great choice. Wingbar Evo or Edge? Motion XT i also a good choice, a bit boxy design that should go well with the boxy car. I have a Volvo-box (made by the company Calix) that also have a boxy design but is a bit slimmer then the XT. The embossed Volvo logo i almost not visible....

They are super easy to mount and dismount once you done it the first time. A helping hand is always good on a car this height. I actually have an older version wich has a slightly different bar and foot, but what I have seen the newer is even easier (I had leftover racks with the correct foot over from my last car, I just bought new bars).
I mount mine only when I need it, even though the Thule wingbars doesn't sound that much, but they are not noisless and I can't stand that, especially with glass roof. On an ICE they also effects the consumption, have had chance to test that on the EV9, have only driven around the block.
I also only need them 3-4 times during winter season.

Oddly enough I was doing ADHD-hyper-focus research on this topic yesterday. I won't start a new thread, so here it is: same topic, little different approach.

  1. I have a ski box and explored just getting the cross rails.
  2. But I'd need to swap it over / another set for bike racks.
  3. And there's still no way to put the roof top tent on it.
This led to exploring other options and finding Thule's modular cargo platform called Caprock.
  1. Caprock has few sizes, with XL and XXL fitting my needs best. Here are both to-scale (XXL on the left):

  2. Here's a video (around 9:45 mark) of an early EV9 with the exact roof rack on the gray model. And are a couple of screen grabs from the video:

Caprock can fit my scenarios better:
  1. I can mount the existing ski box directly on it (or using an accessory adapter)
  2. I place my daughter's ski sled next to it with no problem.
  3. With many mounting points I can alternate the bike rails in the summer to get bikes to fit snug on the roof.
  4. And finally: it works with rooftop tens. Even "van 500" inflatable temporary tent I really like because I have multiple cars.
Efficiency wise, Caprock seems to decrease the range by 10% given this test on a Rivian R1T. For driving around town I'd even leave the whole party up top, and maybe remove when going on roadtrips where I know I won't need it.

Bonus: here's a video of a pulley system to get the rack pulled up in the garage. I built this (manual) with my father 30 years ago for our smaller garage :) I see myself doing this agin in my garage now, probably inviting my father to help and spend some quality time.

Uff… good to get this off my chest.
