Lol....at our local dealership they treat you like a nuisance if you show up. Tired of cooking my heels in the waiting area for 20-30 minutes at a time when all I want to do is ask my salesman a question about my incoming car. It doesn't seem to matter if he is with a customer or not. You always wait 20+ minutes to see anyone.
LOL been in your shoes; when I went to my local dealer to pick up my FE, I was left standing in the showroom for at least 5 minutes before someone finally asked me if I had been helped--once I told the person I was here to pick up my FE, boy they couldn't move fast enough!

An 11! My husband and I both work from home and share my 2009 Pontiac G6 (that we’ll sell once we have hands on the new car). We’ve never owned a new car or anything that either of us would consider particularly modern. So in many ways this is a huge luxury purchase for us.
And if/when you finally have the vehicle in your hands, you'll probably be at 100 on the excitement scale! Hoping your purchase goes through smoothly!

Kia requires proof from a dealer that a real and existing customer ordered the car. I would, if they did this and sold it out from under me, contact Kia and inform them of it, and opine that maybe the dealer is engaging in switch and bait tactics to defraud allocations. This would get attention big.

Unfortunately Kia America lets the dealers do whatever they want. They have made no attempt to throttle the dealer markups, and do not respond to inquiries regarding the same. My expectation would be no help will come from Kia corporate. In this environment, attempting to choose a "better" dealer/salesman is all a buyer can do.

Markups and fabricating orders for fake customers are two different things. If the dealer did what OP is scared of, that's tantamount to fabricating a customer. Obtaining someone's ID under false pretenses to gain an allocation.
