Is there a way to turn off the engine sound completely.
When I set it to off, it will turn itself on next time I take the car for a drive.

I thought the opening poster was talking outside noise.

That’s why a new EU law called the Regulation on the Sound Level of Motor Vehicles was introduced on 1 July 2019, making it a legal requirement for all new electric cars to make a sound at speeds up to 12.4mph, both when they are going forwards and reversing.

Brilliant, have a big like this in my Audi A4… reminds me my mobile is in the car if I stop and it’s plugged in, granted usually this is useful, turn it off and… bam on the next drive it’s back on. Along with the menu always defaulting to the car archive section… I suppose Kia has bugs as well. Audi didn’t fix these issues since 2019.. I hope Kia are more forthcoming with software updates and this gets fixed.

Got my car today :) thankfully no real delays. It’s magical! And very fast comps to my 2019 A4. Instant power. Anyways, driving much slower to get used to it and save some range. I noticed there were no engine sounds… fished about in the menu.. nothing to be found. See a YouTube video on how to change them.. I did have the same menu options. Weird. Did something change in the latest update?. I'll look again tomorrow. But I did check twice today. Seems missing.

Congrats on finally getting your car!

Not in my car, but from the online manual…”Active sound design”

Vehicle settings (infotainment system)
Image
  1. Press the Settings button on the head unit of the infotainment system.
  2. Select Vehicle and change the setting of the features.
Vehicle Settings in the infotainment system provides user options for a variety of settings including door lock/unlock features, convenience features, driver assistance settings, etc.
  • Vehicle settings
    • Driver assistance
    • Drive mode
    • ECO Vehicle
    • Active sound design
    • Head-up display
    • Cluster
    • Climate
    • Seat
    • Lights
    • Door
    • Convenience

So the item is settings, vehicle settings for active sounds is missing… I noticed that the software I have is…. Not November 2012.. dealer outlined they updated software, but this was car firmware they confirmed, not most recent Nav/Infotainment. Will do now. Thought the menu looked weird. 52GB download here we go!

Correct. The latest version is dated December.

When you actually install in the car, I recommend that you go for the quick install. It still installs everything but you can‘t use the infotainment while you are updating.

The slower install allows you to use the system while you are doing the install. However, I sat in the car while doing that and probably because I was fritzing about too much, the installation failed. It worked fine when I did the quick install.

Finally, I suggest you put the car in utility mode before doing the update to protect the 12v battery.

Good luck!

I have the same issue also with the car bizarrely not doing it at home. An interim fix is to go to Settings/Vehicle/Convenience and turn off Advanced Theft. Sadly it resets it self if you restart the car so you have to do it every time you park. I also noticed that in the Kia Connect app under User Profile/Vehicle Settings/Vehicle Settings/Convenience there is an Advanced Anti Theft switch, but this not work on my system.

I have had alarm issues with all my new cars, it's like bad luck or something. A few years ago, 2017 I got an A4 Saloon, alarm went off almost every day at work without fail. Turned out it was condensation causing it and after a few months, it vanished, with no alarms again. Wonder if the EV has this same issue, the back window does get fogged up a lot but also de-foggs a lot as well. Maybe something to do with climate control in EVs, turn off that heat button in the EV6 the windows will fog up, especially the back. Is this a new car issue, lots of moisture from shipping or something?. Something must be going on. I bet as the car dries out the alarm issues go away. Fingers crossed. anyway, just a thought

Just did the most recent update, took a while (USB 2 speeds), however, got an error saying the update failed at 100% after system reboot. But systems shows the most recent versions, weird. Not seen the new system icons/design theme as yet....

Should it not look like this now?.

I'll try to confirm the active sound menu screen is there now.

Hi Logicpro8 - there is a screen that shows the version and you can figure out the date of the version on that…

Thanks, yes, I see this screen, the car SW numbers now match the Kia update site KIA NAVIGATION MAP UPDATE > Notifications under EV6. 211214 SW update but nothing seems to have changed, no map theme choice like in Notice | Official Kia Motors Navigation Update Website, not even a new design theme as stated above. Very strange. Who has done this update and see's the changes/theme updates?. Active sounds are defo still missing for me as well as per KIA EV6 Online Manual in Eng, there is no "Active sound design" menu item at all under Settings > Sound As per this YT video as well

Yes sorry, I went off-topic sorry :)... We started chatting about missing Active Sound Design on GT Line cars in the UK. We now know only GT Line S cars have this feature, in the UK anyway, any car with the upgraded sound system will have it I presume.

I then went on to start talking about the most recent Kia SW/Map update and why the Kia site shows an updated design, purple/pink like.

this is what Kia shows on their update site Notice | Official Kia Motors Navigation Update Website, which is purple-pink looking and updated from what the EV6 was shipped with.

They even go on to say...

The EV6 is a Gen5W car but after the update....

This is what is shown in my car anyway, no theme changes at all.

I did see a Kia EV6 demo in Korean which shows the updated teme in action, see the updated icons and colours....

Where is the new icons and design theme gone to after update :)
