What do you think about the sound system?

Thanks to @avh who led the way👍 My system sounds sooo much better now. I decided to go with a different sub due to the feedbacks with the Rockville getting hot. Almost similar specs/price but ported. I was able to disconnect the cig lighter plug from behind and crimped my power/ground leads to the existing wires. Amp has a 15A fuse, so shld be fine. I had some leftover carpet so decided to cover the board to hopefully absorb any vibrations against the board. Cranked vol up to 70 with Dire Straits Money for Nothing and no blown fuse!

Asked about this before, but could you fit two of those in the space?

Does the Blaupunkt sub switch on when you turn the car on or do you have to have a separate remote turn on?

I recently installed a custom 8 inch fiberglass woofer taking up the bottom area where the oem stock sub did. It is a Dayton audio HO series 8 inch woofer with a 375w rms amp (skar audio 1200 something) and makes more than enough bass. That plus some eq touchups I did on the midrange really make the sound quite good (coming from an audio systems engineer background). Anyone interested in details message me. View attachment 4727
I was wondering why you went with an 8 inch sub? Was the vertical space the limiting factor? Because horizontally it looks like a 10 inch sub would have fit just fine. And maybe even a 12 inch one.
I have never looked at upgrading car audio equipment so forgive me for my ignorance.

I am sure a 10" will fit looking at the size. I think it was about finding a reliable, powered (built in amp), low profile unit that didn't cost a fortune. I guess you could look for a good unit and post the dimensions and those doing the awesome engineering could see if it would work.

I have a kenwood mono sub amp already from another car and am going to try a shallow 10 sub instead of the powered sub and hope that it works well. I will know at the end of the month BUT my meridian amp is now one of those that needs replacement and I which I could replace the meridian amp with a different one but do not think that is possible considering all the different things that it does. :(

I think that is great. Could you please tell me what mounting board you used and the size please. I am disabled and cannot just go out there and measure. How thick is the mounting plate/board, or whatever you used. Thanks in advance.

Do we know what the Meridian amp specs are power/channels - I guess sit's class D?). Also what are the speaker dimensions? I'm thinking replacing them with something better (Low end Morels probably), I think the amp is going to be a bottle neck and I don't want to mess too much with the warranty (I think replacing the speakers with the same size drivers using the current wires + acoustic damping behind them would be a huge improvement. Thank you

Do you have issues with the 12v battery draining?

The Rockville and Blaupunkt subs look interesting and easy enough to install. My main gripe is the lack of sub-bass, are these able to hit those lower notes? (For example something like Daft Punk - Doin' it Right).

So I decided to pick up a 8" MBQuart sub and install it this weekend. Makes a world of difference, however I think I'll go with the Blaupunkt that klingon picked up since it is ported. I opted to keep the OEM sub in place and just tap the wires using some positaps. Picked up a 12awg cigarette lighter extension and snipped it leaving enough length to run under the rear cover. The subwoofer I got is able to fit between the upper and lower covers in the trunk but is pretty sandwiched, hence why I'm wanting to go ported.

I am still keeping my EQ settings I have (-3 treble, -2 mid, +10 bass iirc) but using the additional sub for low volume bass, helps a lot. It definitely helps with sub bass but the very low notes still get missed (for example, the third note you can slightly hear it but is still not prominent)

Is it possible you can share some images?
