I agree, it makes it less attractive imo. I agree that having a tech package would have been nice as well.
There's certainly a tactic here, from Kia. As we all know, higher trim is always the most profitable. Bundling "must" choose option is smart in a business sense and manufacturing ease.
Since there are two strip trim, Light and Wind RWD.
I probably think, the order distribution are:
  • Light (5%) 59.9k
  • Wind (20%) 62.9k
  • Land no pack (30) 64.9k
  • Land Prem (35) 74.9k
  • Land GTL (10%) 79k

I hope Kia will not like the bait and switch GM is doing with their Blazer, Equinox EV.
Keeping the same delivery distribution and not keep limiting just delivery top trim.

Has any canadian dealer of yours told you, which trims will be arriving first?

Talked to mine last week when the pricing came out. I was the one to inform them of the pricing release so not great off the start. I was told they haven't received any information on delivery timelines yet so was told to expect Q1 2024.

or you can wrap the car with frosted vinyl. that will makes the car

10000$CAD extra seems lot.
However, I would think, kia can actually accomondate another option for land:
  • Land no package
  • Land tech + 5000
  • Land premium +10000
  • Land GTline. + 14000

I think the change from land no pack to premium 10000$ is huge step up.
This is sensible and actually what Kia did on the EV6 by having a Wind + tech package so you didn't have to fully go up to the GT-Line to get all the tech features. Unfortunately it looks like they are not doing that with the EV9 as in the US you also are forced to go up a trim level (Wind -> Land) for $6000 to get most of the tech features.

I have a reserved an land premium from the begining, ocean blue. I kinda knew the ocean blue is special for premium trim at the begining.
Hopefully your dealer will have more allocation for you to choose; to upgrade.
What's your secondary color choice, if not blue?
Yeah probably my second choice if not blue would be red. Just to make it easier to find the car in a parking lot...

I knew the blue was only available in premium but not knowing pricing, I was not willing to spend an extra x thousand dollars. However, now that the premium is still 'affordable' (I know that's relative) I would totally pay an extra $10k for what you get - sunroof, seat memory, heated seats for the kids etc.

My dealer only got 4 of the preorders, so I doubt there will be any room for changes there.

Has anybody heard any delivery timelines from their dealers in Canada?

I see some countries are getting it currently (like New Zealand) and some are scheduled to get it starting December.

Also, has any dealer moved forward to finalize pricing?

From posts around the forums, it seems like NZ/AUS deliveries have started, West Coast USA will start in December, and East Coast USA in January. Haven't heard anything about Europe.
I was reading some comments on some of the recent EV9 reviews and it mentioned people in Germany waiting for their cars, which are at dealers for pick up but pending some update. Not sure if it is true or not, but that’s what I saw.

Yes, that's a good example of bad message. It's too bad I couldn't delete that in time lol. The price is really amazing. I was telling my wife that there is hope to get our hands on EV9. Now I just need to see if there is a possibility to get rebate for the GTL or Wind with package.
I placed my order this weekend and the dealer said the GTL does qualify for the 5K federal credit.

They also confirmed that initial supply will be 5K units.

Next part take with some salt. The dealer said they were told by Kia Canada that supply will be at about the same rate as the Telluride.

I think your dealer needs to speak to Kia again.

Kia has launched 3 trims in Canada - Light, Wind and Land. Light is under 60k and the other two are under 70k thereby meeting criteria for IZEV.
Premium and GT-Line are not being marketed as addition trim but as ad-on packages for 10k and 14k respectively.
The IZEV website clearly points out that destination fees and packages that make the total price above 70k threshold don't disqualify from IZEV rebate.
So now why would Kia go through all these hoops to price these as packages and not simply trims?

There are a lot of dealers who still don't know much about the EV9 and talk out of their behinds.

I suggest reaching out to another dealer to ask the same question.

On Kia website, the 5000$ is eligible.
A good exmaple for canadian, are the volvo C40 and XC40 recharge. They are package the same, with AWD and other package, it goes to a whooping mid 70s.
Same for polestar 2 as well. It's not a loophole.
Kia has consider this before setting the MSRP.

5000 units for canada at launch? Weren't they saying 500 only? Or was that for pre order only ?

I'm sure I saw a video with the owner of Brantford Kia saying the 500 allotment was just the initial number but there won't be the same issues the EV6 has had. People need to remember this ain't 2021 or 2022. Tesla dropped their prices, VW just dropped their int rates by 3%. The slowing economy is having its effects now. In the US they're having a real problem with BEVs sitting on lots and the price of the EV9 is quite a bit higher in the US. Plus no 7500 gov't tax rebate.

Yea the more expensive EV and Ice vehicles are not selling well these days.

Also I think the microchip shortage is improving. But it's true I heard GM is switching direction focusing on less Electric Vehicles and more on ICE pickup trucks and SUVs they have been losing Millions with EVs have to return to their bread and butter.
I think Elon created a craze that was massively fueled by very high oil prices and now the momentum is flipping back to hybrids, and PHEVs. 2024 is a pivotal yr for sure. Whether you hate Tesla or not, they will control the BEV sales and prices throughout next yr. A new Model 3 within a couple months and then the Model Y juniper. I’m fully expecting ID4 sales to get hit hard next yr esp if they raise prices. Dead in the water is a phrase that comes to mind. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see discounts on BEVs next yr.
