Haven't gotten my plates yet but curious on what most folks are using for the install? or just straight Plate to Bumper mount?
Sucks Kia don't even include them with the car.
I'm using this from Amazon. The mounting holes lined up with the front bumper dimples. Instead of drilling a hole, I made a pilot hole with a smaller screw then attached the frame to the bumper with the provided screw.

I'm not that concerned about attaching a frame to the bumper because official front and back plates from state DMV are required in Virginia, so my cars usually come with both brackets already installed. I only had to do this one myself because I bought it out of state.

I'm in California and both front and rears are required. But still glad they didn't drill into the front bumper. I want to be the one to devirginize it.. lol
thanks for the Amazon link. $10.00.. yes! lol

Interestingly, to my knowledge, Nevada ships 2 plates with all registrations, but does not require both be installed only if the vehicle does not come from the factory with a front mounting bracket. The dealer is not required to put a front bracket on. However, if your vehicle has a bracket, the front plate is supposed to be installed.

When I retired here from Cali, my cars had the front bracket because they require front/back. I was advised at the DMV when I registered and titled them here, that I should put it on. If not, I could be sited for not having it. I see plenty with a bracket w/o a plate, so obviously, YMMV.

It was still too short, maybe by 1/2“ or so. I think you could make it work with either a nylon or metal spacer and longer mounting screw, the heavy duty steel rod that they use is probably overkill for the weight. The other issue I saw was the gap between the sensors on the bumper might be just a bit too close together and the plate might interfere with them.

Thanks for sharing- it’s good to know. I had a old tow hook relocation kit from STI - made by Perrin, but the threat / pitch / diameters for tow hook stem for Kia are way bigger but the length of stem seems to be perfect. Thinking - May have to go to harbor freight or homedepot to find alternative I-e take the kia tow hook to them and see if two or more parts can make a stem that works for me.

I checked the plate against the bumper sensors and it seems it overlaps by maybe just an 1/8” on each side of the plate. Also, since the plate would be away from the bumper I think it would interfere with the sensor even more. I’ll try to stop by Lowes or HD and see if they have something to cobble up to make sure.

You may want to look at this license mounting bracket on Amazon:

I understand that the bracket mounting slots line up with the Kia factory locating dimples on the front bumper. Aditionally the mounting plate has built in mounting nuts for the license plate and includes security style screws and wrench.

I got a front bracket similar to what is linked to above ($10). Worked well, and added simple silicone frames. Mouned thru existing dimples which made it ease to center vertically:
Thanks, your post is the most useful for me on this string for installing the front license plate, especially the photos. If I buy both of these items, will it work like yours? Should I drill pilot holes first and if so, how big?

(I bought and installed this silicone frame on the rear plate and really like it, so wanted to use the same for the front. I have a Gravity Blue Wind (looks black) so the black frame blends in nicely).

When I bought mine in California, I had to sign a form acknowledging that the car had a front license plate bracket installed (a state requirement, I assume). The next day, I discovered that it does not have a bracket. I contacted the dealer who said they don't install a bracket because it could interfere with the sensors or cameras, but that they thought they had found a solution. Today, I received two simple plastic license plate frames in the mail, no screws included. The holes do match up with the pre-drilled holes in the bumper, so I guess I'll try to attach the frame when the plates arrive. Because of the curve in the bumper, I am afraid that the screws won't hold in the bumper. There needs to be a better solution from KIA.
I tried using the top two holes. The only one that fit. License plate flops in the breeze. Amazon has a rigid plate that appears to work. It is rigid and can be affixed with multiple screws. License plate frame attaches to It
