USB-A and an Ipod

I took a look around and found a little bit about this on the "Meridian review" thread, but wanted to either get elaboration or update....

I've ordered my EV6 and am curious about using my ipod. It worked with bluetooth, but during the test drive I tried to hook the ipod up through the cord into that USB-A and it wasn't recognized.

Has there been any update or success by anyone else to use the wired connection? Or are we stuck with using bluetooth for an iPod?

Thanks.

Bluetooth. It doesn’t recognize my iPod Nano either. I don’t think the EV6 had iPod integration.
I now alternate between my phone (wired connection) or Bluetooth (either phone or iPod)

So far I'm finding the same info from another message board. I reluctantly downloaded my music onto the iPhone in preparation of the limitation. If only I could find a way to make the EV6 to think the iPod is just a USB stick.

I just did a test drive on the EV6 and I think I am going to buy it this week. I tried my Ipod Photo (which worked great in my Infinity QX60) with steering wheel control of the music, but when I plugged it into the EV6 port that the salesman said should work it wasn't recognized. Since I have an extra Ipod Photo laying around I am going to try installing Rockbox - Rockbox - Free Music Player Firmware - on my extra Ipod and will see if the EV6 recognizes that.. Would love for it to, since RockBox supports FLAC. I can report back after I pick up the car.

I would be very interested to see what your results are. I have an iBasso DX90 DAP, and wonder if that would be recognized. RockBox also has updated player for the Ibasso DX 90, and maybe that will be the key to getting it recognized by the Meridian system I am severely disappointed in the USB support of only 8000 files. My music collection is 13000+ at this moment, and continues to grow. I don't want to loose 5000+ songs just to get a USB drive to work with this system.

I was over on the Ioniq5 forum and found this thread. There may be hope for me! The english in the post is a little bit confusing, but you will get the idea.
USB 8000 song limit "work around" (not sure how to do the posting quote thing, so here is his post copied and pasted:
"When connecting a USB drive, the limit off songs are 8000, and for some of us that is too little.
I have a harddrive connected with about 22 to 25000 songs on them, and have found a "work around" to access them all.
It's not easy to use, but do work.
When going via file system, or artist I only get artist/folders that ut to H in the alfabet.
When going inn via song, and put on random, it will get to songs from artist further down the alfabet. If I want to listen to lets say Metallica which I can't acess normally, I can skip in random untill I get to one of their songs, then press list, and through that way get into the folders with their music and then choose which ever album I like.
Should have been better if Hyundai had bigger memory to keep songs in.
And for me it's only for a short while. Getting two drives, and splitting them about even in the alfabet.
Had it that way in my eGolf on two SD cards, but could switch between them there, and not plug in and out.
The I5 do remember where I was when using another USB music library, when I connect the harddrive again."

This is on a Hyundia Ioniq 5, so fingers crossed, I hope this will work on the EV6 Meridian system. The lister was from, I think Denmark, guessing by the flag, and he was also mentioning that he was going to split his song collection between two hard drive's (which I think he means USB drives) and switching between them. I don't think this is an option for US cars as there are several threads here stating that using a USB splitter or switched USB hub is not recognized by the system. I am going to further explore that when I get my car by trying several USB hubs to see if I can find one that will work. Fingers crossed! If anybody reads this and wants to try this out - USB drive with more than 8k files, played in random mode (songs) - to see if the Kia will skip to files outside of the first 8k - to confirm or disprove - then report back to this thread - that would be greatly appreciated!
