People, just a reminder, don't ignore the tweeters, I upgraded to Morel Virtus I had from a few years ago and the improvement is quite dramatic. To make a clean install I got two of the cheaper tweeters from Kia parts and drilled the new tweeters into them, the installer did, I got a pro.

this along with the Alpine sub totally transformed the sound, highly recommended!

Do you have a part number for the Kia tweeters you purchased?

Got my speaker part from Korea today. It was pretty dang fast.
I thought I read earlier in this post that it was taking 3 to 4 weeks.
Ordered Jan 3rd and received it Jan 11th.

I tried both. Go with the 10 inch. It sounded much better!

Ordered the 10 inch!! Will have everything on Saturday except for the replacement wiring harness from Korea that makes it where you don't have to cut wired. I might get impatient and just cut the stock wires.

Ordered the 1879003730AS harnass from the previous listed Korean website. Also, ordered from mykiaparts.com. Hopefully between the two websites I get the correct wiring harness for plug and play.

Did you order the part from the Korean website? That as far as I know is the only place that has the correct part.

Hey yall, been a while since I checked this thread but I'm finally thinking about replacing the sub. Anyone have the current recommendations for a sub and install method?

Order the connector from Korea.
Take out factory sub.
Get wood board for support.
Plug Korea connector into the factory connector. Splice amp wires to the Korea connector.

These are the colors from factory that plug into the Korean part, use your amp paperwork to match up the Left, Right, Positive, Negative

Brown Left+
White. Left -
Pink. Right+
Red. Right -


Install the 12v cigarette lighter.
Enjoy a great sound system.

Part from Korea that makes things SO much easier and you don't have to cut any factory wires.

All it would take is 2 more channels of amplification. Connect the new amplifiers between the existing amplifier and the rear speakers.
You would probably be dissatisfied however.
That's because all the rear channels (mains, surrounds, and the sub) are muted. (Not Off, but down by 20 to 30 dB). You would still need a way to make the rear channels "track" the front channel levels. Otherwise you would have to be constantly adjusting the rear channels output levels to track the front.

None of the TSB's Kia has issued relative to the subwoofer have corrected this problem. I'm holding out for the KIA fix as I don't think I should have to add an amplifier to make my rear speakers audible. Going the powered subwoofer route makes a tremendous improvement, but it doesn't solve the rear sides and surrounds being muted. Meridian has gone on record that the rear channels should have the same output levels as the fronts, but I have yet to hear the rear speakers work properly in any EV6 I've tested. Meridian didn't manufacture the KIA sound system, they designed it. But your head unit was designed by KIA. Kia makes it interface with all the sensors, radars, cameras, audio sources, radio, phone, Bluetooth and internet signals to keep the car on the road and the driver entertained. There's a tremendous amount of processing going on in that head unit. But somewhere deep inside there's a bad line of code, and so far, the engineers haven't found it. When they do, you'll be able to sell your powered subwoofer on eBay.

Interesting and good information: Last Friday I did a Kia Complaint via the website about the rear speakers being lower than the front. Kia called me back in several hours and suggested I take it to my dealer. I called the closest dealer to my house (I bought my EV6 out of state from a dealer not charging over MSRP). Their EV guy was on vacation and they told me to call back in a week. Not sure what is going to be accomplished taking it in. It is a known problem. But at least I will have record of the rear speakers being at a lower volume than the front.

Super easy to drop in a replacement unit. Highly recommend ordering that part from Korea so you don't have to cut any original wires. I can go to 100% stock if I need to. Off to do drive around with my new upgraded stereo. Now if only the rear seat speakers would be at the same level as the front speakers!!

Thanks @Manticore , looks like info I got from this thread had Left and Right reversed. Don't think it would make s difference since it's one sub. Here is information from Kicker manual. So I'll do it correct with the proper left and right.

Got old woofer out, new Kicker 10 in. Will do wiring tomorrow. However, I am confused. I bought the connector from Korea.

What color wires will go to the Kicker wires?

From the first picture I have Brown, White, Pink, Red that slides into the Korean part.

On the kicker wiring harness I have Red, Blue, Black , Grey, Grey with Black stripe, White, and White with Black stripe.


From earlier in this post some said:
Brown -- Grey
White - Grey with Black Stripe
Pink -- White
Red -- White/Black

From the the power outlet I am going to go red power wire to red kicker power wire. Then connect the black ground wire from amp to black wire from power adaptor.

So on the Kicker harness I will not use the blue or black ground correct?

Thanks. I actually got everything installed a few days ago and they are working great. No problems so far and the system sounds amazing.
