Hi,

Occasionally we have found that there’s no sound coming from the Meridian speakers. We get no sound from the different audio modes of DAB, Bluetooth, or even the Sounds of Nature app that comes with the car. This also affects the alerts, such as collision and also the car navigation voice.

We have tried turning the car off and starting again and this doesn’t seem to resolve the problem.

The only way we have seen the problem resolve is if we have driven to a place and then left the vehicle and gone shopping for example and then returned to the car and the speakers work again.

Has anyone else noticed this problem?

We are up to date on all of the latest Kia updates from the dealer, but we had the problem before some of the more recent updates too.

Hey. I experienced something strange today. I drove to work, listened to music as usual... When I drove home I had no sound via the Bluetooth system. I tryed calling via Bluetooth, and there was no sound... So I tryed the radio. Absolutely no sound.. Then i noticed the lane-change warning did not make any sound either. So my conclusion is absolutely no sounds from the car whatsoever. Anyone else experienced this?

I tryed rebooting the car. It was parked for a few hours, and still the same problem. I tryed pushing the reset button on the dashboard (right to the on/off button. Screen reboots) any ideas?

Wow I see you posted only 3 hrs ago. I just had the same problem this morning Australian time. No sound from anything including all media, radio, android auto Bluetooth, headunit beep, active sound.
Unit says media is paying. Just picked up the car 3 days ago. It is a Feb 2022 build. I reset the headunit too and that didn't seem to help.
Is it a wiring issue as I have seen other replaces in the forum? My does seem like a later build though so would hope was fixed?

I certainly hope I don't have to subscribe to any package to listen to Spotify via Bluetooth. Since I I live in Norway all dealers are og purse closed on Sundays. So unless anyone got any good ideas It will prob have to wait until tomorrow so the dealership might look into it. Very frustrating though...im not sure exactly about my build, but if the wires were an issue on early builds, mine is from 2021 I suppose or january. But at least I tryed every knob, setting and reboot I could think of. The only thing I did do yesterday that I never did before was unlocking and locking the car through the Kia Connect app once during the day. But if that causes no sounds after I'm kinda surprised... 😂

So I just had this problem today too. Initially turned the car off then back on. Reset the head unit didn't work. Ended up driving with no audio from the speakers at all to our destination. Then parked it. After we came back to the car, may. 2 hrs later all sound worked again. Just wondering had you been using android auto and Spotify on your previous trip?
I have found that Spotify through android auto is slow and buggy. So wondering if this is causing the fault?

Strange right. I ask my dealer and they said not officially aware of anything. But to be honest most dealers are not on the ball about these things. They just said let us know if it occurs again. Also they did mention they know a big new media head unit update is coming to a lot of the newer Kia's with this OS.
Has anyone worked out what is causing this fault?
I don't think it is wiring or hardware.

I have had this issue a few times. Both on wired/wireless android auto and bluetooth. I can switch to the radio and the sound comes back but not from my phone. I try to go back to media, and it shows its playing on my phone as well as on the display but no sound. I have had it start working after a few hours as others have mentioned. Earlier this week, it happened again BUT this time, after being away from the car, it came back, played a partial song and cut out. Again, switched to the radio, and the sound was fine. I even used the Kia nav (which sound worked fine) but nothing through the media setting. I tried resetting the car, my phone, no sounds except through the radio setting.

I'm not very mechanically inclined and don't know how to check the 12volt battery. I know where it is but that's about it =)

I've had my EV6 for 4 weeks. I have an appointment for service on Tuesday and asked them to see if there are any updates. I made the appointment before the issue the other day but was planning on bringing up the previous times it cut out but came back after the vehicle 'rested' lol. At this point, I hope it's still malfunctioning on Tuesday. I will post any useful info I can!

I've had this problem for months now (received the car in december). Had a software update from the dealership in march that was supposed to 'solve' the issue and it resolved exactly nothing... The only 'solution' is to park the car for a couple of hours and then it magically solves itself.

(The weird thing is that with other software bugs I can simply switch off the car, lock the doors, reopen them and then the issue has usually resolved. With the sound problem I really need to wait a few hours)

Strange you have to wait, is it normally OK at the start then goes low or off?

If it is I wonder if the amplifier is overheating and turning off meaning your amp is faulty, after a few hours iys cooled down enough to turn back on.

Sadly, I missed my appointment this morning. I over slept, SO frustrated! Even worse, I can't get in until Monday. I'm guessing they have that one person that works on EV's. AND to take the frustration further, my issue has not resolved but is happening all the time. I can play music through BT or AA, the song plays for a few moments, maybe even through to the next song, then dead air, no sound. If i switch to radio, the sound is back. I'm getting a new phone this week. I'm hoping it's the phone (I have a Pixel 4xl, not that old) but at least I can rule that out.

I'll be posting and reading!

In Australia I have heard Kia is aware of the issue however no confirmation on a fix here yet.
For you in the USA there was a big update recently for media and navigation head unit. Plus there was a update for the amp and some cars needed a wiring harness fix as well. So if you both haven't had those I would hope that would fix the sound issue

I am so sorry I haven't posted. I've been sick and sadly this was put on the back burner :(. I believe most of my sound issues were being caused by Google Maps Drive Mode. I'm not sure how this was invoked but what was happening is that my phone was going into Do Not Disturb even when I was using Android Auto wired or wireless but not until I was driving. I have since done some research and I have been able to hopefully disable Drive Mode. I have been able to reproduce the issue and it is easy to invoke Drive Mode without knowing. If you open android auto on your phone, the Drive Mode option shows on the screen. If you even hit the button to "check it out" nothing appears but the next time you drive off, the sound cuts out. Google has been making some poor decisions lately (IMHO) but this was frustrating. I hope this helps a little.

I did have the 2 updates performed last week and I'm not certain if they fixed anything.

This just happen to me yesterday. Had the car for 4 months and just hit 10k miles. Drove to work just fine, but when I left I noticed the volume was lower than normal. Played with the controls and found that there is no sound coming from the two speakers in the front doors.

My FE AWD (March 22) is approaching 9K miles. Meridian sound system just failed . No sound from few speakers. Tin can sound. Almost like a loud cell phone speaker. I have scheduled an Appointment with the Irvine Kia dealer. Previously, the Nav unit(maps only) froze at around 5K miles, and did the update via USB myself and it got resolved and I felt the sound also had improved compared to earlier. One thing I noticed from day one of ownership is the whole Display unit runs super hot during the day. Even at night, the unit gets really warm. I wonder what insane computer processing does it have to do to just connect bluetooth and play some music and display some basic info.

I don't know if this is possible, but it would be very interesting to know if the "NEW" amp has a different part number than the old one? If any of you that have taken the time, or will take the time to look at the old dead amp please document the p/n of it and post here. Then, maybe as the new ones come in the new p/n (if it is a new one) will be reflected on the work order.(maybe)

I have a GT-Line AWD and completely lost all interior sounds except startup. My dealer needed to call the Kia TechLine and open a case with corporate to get it diagnosed. They determined that there was an open circuit and replaced the External AMP (Part 96370-CV100) yesterday. Sounds are good again. Not an audiophile so not sure how to comment on quality, but sounds good enough to me. No documentation on old part number, but assume old and new are the same.

Hello. I'm not the owner of a Kia EV model, but a proceed gt line 2020 model. I also have the issue of the front door speakers cutting out for a few seconds. It's weird how it happens since I thought about some loose contact but potholes don't trigger it. It always just happens without any jerky carmotions or anything. For me it also started happening since about a week ago. Very annoying issue!

headunit 10,25" model combined with jbl speakers(factory default) and updated to the May-version. I have put all audio-related settings to default also.

I was sitting my AWD wind yesterday listening to a podcast (volume around 32) for a few minutes when a super loud whirring/interference type of sound came out of the speakers. I closed Spotify and unplugged the CarPlay dongle but the noise didn't stop until I turned the vehicle off. After turning the car back on, the noise was gone but most of my speakers are no longer working. I've tried bluetooth/spotify, the radio, etc. There is a little bit of sound coming from behind the steering wheel and in the very back of the vehicle, but nothing from the meridian speakers. I'm going to call the service dept. tomorrow but I just wanted to share my experience in case anyone else can relate... this is the first issue I've had. I took the car in last month for a update due to the recall.. so I'm assuming it's up-to-date.
