People, this may be a better thread to ask,
I replaced the sub with a ts-wx130da and have problems dialling it in, it's basically super powerful and the bass is too much, especially with electronic music, hip-hop etc. I'm running it at quarter volume and quarter LPF (about 62Hz?) on both dials and I can't find a setting that really works.

It's in the place of the old sub and I put that plastic cover above it, but the floor is on top (there's a gap where I store a power cable) and that triangle at the end is removed so there's air moving. Basically I think this bin the sub is in is acting like a huge box. I know most people complain about the lack of bass, but this is too much. I tried playing with phase (it's even deeper/louder) and various settings.

I put the EQ at -3 bass but it's hurting the mid-bass in the front. Any tips or ideas are welcome - thank you.
I think I turned up my high and mid to +8 and bass at +1. I got the Kicker 10 inch.

I have set the subwoofer LPF to it’s max frequency setting since it is the system that decides the cut-off frequency for the subwoofer. I agree that the subwoofer cavity also contributes to bass response. I have put back the covers and they don’t affect the bass. On my Rockville subwoofer, I have set both the bass boost and input gain to a tad above the center setting but I still hear a little distortion at max setting on the wired control knob (with the system bass setting at 0). I think I’ll dial back the input gain a little and see if that eliminates it. That’s something to try.

It sounds like the input levels aren't properly set and you are overdriving the sub. The input level should be set to SPK and the input gain should be set to NORM. It sounds as if you are putting a high level signal into the low level inputs.[/QUOTE]

Thanks people,
I can back to the installers today and we discovered the sub was set up wrongly (Line input instead of Speaker level, and gain on high) fixed the settings and it sounds good, will probably tweak a bit more but it's now 'normal'.

Big improvement to the sound mainly replacing the tweeters!

If you get the part for Korea, then you just have to tell your shop this:

Brown Left+
White. Left -
Pink. Right+
Red. Right -

I looked at the sub you listed, I don't see any controls on the outside. On the kicker you can adjust several settings. The sub you listed looks like it only has one positive and negative (the big red and black connectors)
Do you know off the top of your head which colors went to which?

I don't.

@Manticore posted this that identifies the KIA wires:

Brown Left+
White. Left -
Pink. Right+
Red. Right -

My Kicker sub has a wiring harness. From the manual:

When you posted what sub you were getting, I noticed it did not have a wiring harness only RCA/Speaker inputs?

Install was so simple of my Kicker because you litteraly just have to splice the wires to the corresponding Left/Right +/-

What the Kicker HS10 is installed and you can't tell a difference???? When I installed my Kicker 10 inch I had the bass up on the EQ settings, the entire car was shaking from the insane amount of base. I turned the bass way down. I also turned up the high and mid in the EQ settings.
All finished. I had him put the settings on the unit itself to 1/4th. You're right, the Kicker puts out crazy amounts of bass. I wonder why he needed to use the converter?

Myosin, do you have the GT or another version? I'm wondering if the GT has something different that required the high to low adapter or if he just didn't have it in properly? Either way, the upgrade made the system sound 100x better like you said.

Thanks for all the guidance, I fitted a powered sub today. I am in the UK so got one from Vibe Audio (8 inch 300w) and the loom adaptor from Korea Spares, It was super easy to wire up and the sound is way better than before.. Mines actually too big to fit in the space where the OEM one was so I removed that and put the new sub above it, that frees up the space below for charging cables which is nice. The software update helped, but this is next level better.

An update on my subwoofer upgrade.
While I could get adequate bass from the system with the sub below the false floor, it was occasionally a bit boomy.

I tried moving it to the main boot and the improvement is dramatic. Not surprising that it would be better not having to transmit through the boot floor and padding I suppose.

if you don’t mind it being on show it’s a great solution.

The bass is tight and controlled. It’s easily the best stereo system I’ve heard for a long time and as a drummer, I notice that you can actually hear the grace notes on the bass drum. You can’t usually appreciate that on a stereo system. It actually sounds a bit like a PA system that you get if you’ve ever played in a band, and the rest of the Meridian system is very clean and transparent, they go well together.

it’s one plug to remove it for when you want to carry a lot of luggage or put the seats down as well

I have mine under the load floor and will have to try above to see how the difference sounds.

Would be great if it could be fitted into one of the corners of the boat with a customer enclosed box.

Installing a kicker hs10 transformed the system from one of the worst I've heard (don't care about clarity) to on par with the Harmon Kardon system in my Stinger GT1. As mentioned, it did require a high low converted on top of the Korean Part and everything else.
