What do you think about the sound system?

Well this is frustrating. Kicker line converter and RCA cables are here. Still humming. I noticed if I take out and plug back in the 12v plug it will stop after several attempts so I'm going to try grounding the amp directly to chassis instead of using the wiring for the 12v accessory.

edit: Nope. Looks like it's time to try a different sub.

Sorry to read your issues, have you tried a different 12 volt supply incase its a faulty adaptor that's causing this issue?

No but that's a good suggestion. I am noticing the humming is getting WAY louder and not going away at all now and happening all the time. Considering it didn't do it on the first day and it's done it ever since day 2, I'm thinking there's a likely possibility it's a bad amp in the NVX unit. Have an Inifinity Basslink Mini coming today to confirm if that's the case.

I have an Inifinity I could us. Let us know how well it works when it comes in.

Just an update, the amplifier is on backorder but was deemed as faulty via TSB ( SA494A ). I've attached a copy of the TSB here. Seems like it mainly affects vehicles produced November 17, 2021 through February 15, 2022. Hopefully it has been corrected, but this might explain some of the inconsistency between audio satisfaction.

Amazon delayed my Infinity sub. Just got it today and test wired it....so far it's perfect. No humming. I do wonder if the power per channel from the high level inputs could have been too high since they are amplified and caused damage to the NVX unit. Either way, the Infinity Basslink Mini is working good.

Will get it all mounted up now and give it a couple days to check back in and confirm resolved....as well as an objective comparison to see if that extra 115 dollars was worth it in sound quality.

Great News the Hum has gone, take some photos also. (y)

Yeah this was the magic ticket. It's perfect. I had to turn gain down to only about 25%, zero bass boost, LPF still around 100. It hits very hard and clean. Suuuuuper clean. As it turns out this kicker LOC is one of the best ones you can get as tested...zero distortion and the remote signal is solid. Kicker LOC tested

I'm set now. Lesson learned. Buy nice or buy twice.

Good news, my pigtail came in sooner than expected and it fits. Part # 18790-0373DAS -- This should allow for unintrusive installs when combined with using the cigarette lighter output.

Bad news, my amplifier is on backorder and no one knows when it'll come in. Good job, Meridian/Kia.

Does anyone know if there's any wiring under the rear seat with the stock Kia audio system (non-Meridian)? Would be great to tap into that location rather than at the doors.
I checked for wiring at the rear hatch where where the Meridian sub would connect but there were no leads there with the stock audio system.

I just installed my Kicker 11HS8 and boy is that what the car needed! The sound system now sounds like what I was expecting in the first place (maybe a little better). Installation was very easy thanks to this forum. Here are a few things I learned in case it helps anyone.

1. The ground wire can connect to one of the 10mm screws that were removed when the old sub was uninstalled. I soldered a ring terminal to the end of the ground wire and then screwed it down. Just sand a little where the terminal will contact the car body for a good connection. In retrospect, I see in the forum pictures that some of you did this but wanted to call attention to it.

2. The positive is easy to slide under the plastic so that all cables are completely hidden. Just pop open the panel under the 12V socket, reach in and you should be able to feel the wire at the bottom as you push it from the subwoofer cavity toward the tail light.

3. The wiring to the 12V socket unplugs just like a wall outlet. This makes splicing in the positive very easy. Just unplug and then pull the wiring out the access panel along with the wire you just fished through and splice away. You can choose to either plug the wiring back in to the 12V socket or leave it disconnected to reduce your chances of exceeding circuit capacity. FWIW, I plugged mine back in. I figured the fuse will keep things in check and there are workaounds if you need to plug in something that uses 15A: You could use a different 12V socket in the car or you could temporarily unplug or turn off the sub.

4. Leaving one of the plastic access ports off to the subwoofer cavity seems to have a positive effect on sound quality. I'm still experimenting with this. It also provides easy access to the adjustment knobs on the subwoofer.
